Long story short, I've all but changed my mind about taking my DD with me on a trip next week. The ticket is non-refundable. Has anyone ever had any experience in perhaps getting a credit for future travel? Or am I just out of luck? I plan to call SW tomorrow, but I was just hoping to maybe hear from somebody with any kind of advice that would be helpful to know ahead of time. :goodvibes

You ABSOLUTELY get credit for future travel, to be completed within one year of when you bought the original ticket, on Southwest!!! The credit is even transferable, so it doesn't have to be used by your daughter (e.g. you could use it yourself!).

You don't even have to cancel the reservation, although it would be rude not to. Southwest will automatically issue the credit when the passenger doesn't show up.

You have one year from the date you made the original reservation to actually fly. Making the new reservation within one year isn't sufficient.

Wow! You guys are quick! :thumbsup2 Thanks so much! Knowing that a credit will be issued makes my decission a lot easier to deal with. :thanks:

The credit however is not sent to you, it "hangs" out there until you make another reservation, so, hold on to your reservation number, you will need it to make future reservations.
