Non Refrigerated Foods?

We're going to be making a 4 day trip in November and staying at an off site hotel. The hotel rooms do not have a refrigerator and we are hoping to save some money by bringing some food items with us. I was hoping some of you could offer some suggestions of easy travel foods?

So far I'm thinking bread, peanut butter, bananas, muffins, and trail mix/granola bars. What other ideas have you used?

Check out shelf stable foods. There are packets of tuna (some are flavored) chicken, etc. There is shelf stable milk, flavored milk, and other drinks, of course.

Nuts, dried fruit, things like that. There are also prepacked snacks that are shelf stable and don't require refrigeration, like those pudding cups, and fruit cups.

We are going to DL this December and staying in a good neighbor hotel, too. Couldn't get onsite, so I'm a little nervous about capacity.

Take care and have a wonderful time!

If you're driving you can bring a cooler packed with lunch meats, potato salad, cheese, drinks, etc. Your hotel will probably have an ice machine so you can replenish the cooler with ice every day.

I thought about a cooler, but the hassle of refilling the ice/emptying the water seems like more trouble than I want to deal with. I'll have to look up shelf stable food- Ive never heard of non refrigerated milk :)

What about instant oatmeal? Just use hot water from coffee pot or sink? Also condensed soup....if you eat lunch or dinner in room. (With hot water again) We also bring beef jerky, protein bars, pretzels, individual applesauce, and jelly bellies or dum dums as treats for the kids so we don't buy as much in the park.

Apples, bananas, most fruits in general don't require refrigeration. :thumbsup2 Also love beef jerky, nuts, peanut butter like you mentioned with bread, honey, Nutella.

I don't think refilling a cooler with ice is all that hard, most hotels have ice machines. It would give you the option for lunch meat, condiments, cheese, and milk.

Replenishing your cooler with ice isn't that hard if you put the ice in large ziploc bags.

That said, if you really don't want to deal with ice you can also freeze your drinks and use them for ice. They should last you at least a couple of days, so just pack 2 days worth of perishables in the cooler and eat your nonperishables for the last part of the trip.

we take soft sided cooler that fits inside my back pack..
in it I use frozen juice boxes as my ice block,, and at the end of the day drink the juice..
inside the cooler I have cheese sticks.. grapes. or other fruit.. sometimes frozen gogurts , carrot sticks , cucumbers , olives..
We then take Nutella to go..
Peanut butter to go.. and then take the Pringle sticks..
Tuna salad packs with crackers..
Beef jerky .
Nuts and trail mix.

then my son always wants a cake of some kind..

Compleats make a great meal that is shelf stable. I like any of the beef versions - beef stew, beef tips, beef roast, etc. The chicken and rice ones are good too. If you can find them, the Spam versions with red beans and rice, or the jambalaya are very good.

Also, those little fruit cups - mandarin oranges, peaches, etc, pepperoni sticks, peanut butter go-cups, and the uncle ben's microwaveable wild rice bags are good.

What hotel are you staying at?

Just posted this elsewhere, but my kids always have powdered donuts for breakfast at Disney. No refrigeration needed, and you get them practically everywhere.

I always feel like we eat a lot of junk at Disney, so I try to pack some fruits and veggies for snacks. Things like apple sauce (my kids love the squeezies), fruit leather, dried fruit... my husband loves wasabi peas. Kale chips, apple chips, etc.
