We are 9 days from our next WDW trip and already planning the next one of course :-) We are considering a 5-6 day non park stay at Saratoga Springs or Old Key West (for the easy hop to Disney Springs). Thinking of a very low key, relaxing trip where we will just hang out, swim and go out for dinner every evening. Has anyone experienced a trip like this? This would be my first trip not going in the parks so I am a bit apprehensive. We are considering buying DVC as well so this may be our first DVC stay.

I'm actually considering this for my next visit (unless I can be sure we can get a fastpass for FOP!).

We have done 3 non park trips and have thoroughly enjoyed them. 1st one was 3 nights as we were worried we'd be bored. Nope. Our others have been for 7 nights and were awesome. Enjoy!

Our last couple trips we have done very little parks: the last one we only did typhoon lagoon and a MVMCP party. The trip before that just a MVMCP. The rest of the time we hung out and relaxed and enjoyed the resort, visited other resorts (eg monorail hop to see the holiday decorations), visited disney springs.

An enjoyable, relaxing trip.

You will love that boat ride from OKW to Disney springs. I would love to do a non-park trip at some point. I think either of you resort choices will be great!

After a recent surgery, my Dh and I did a four day resort only stay this past August at AKL. It was wonderful! We relaxed all day either in the pool or wandering around the resort looking at the animals. We are Dvc members, so one night we went to Top of the World Lounge at Bay Lake Tower, which let us see the fireworks without actually going to Magic Kingdom. You will definitely feel much more rested after this trip, than a normal parks trip. Nice choice of resort location... you will have plenty of things to do at Disney Springs! Also, make sure you take a boat ride over to Port Orleans, it is such a pretty and relaxing ride.

We are staying at Kidani Village for our trip next week and are looking forward to that. We love everything Disney has to offer but it can be tiring. I like the idea of the relaxing trip and if we join DVC, I will definitely be visiting the Top of the World Lounge!!

DVC is awesome, I'll bet you'd love it. I get the appeal of hangin around the resort but there's no way I could resist the pull of at least a short time in a park each day. That's when the APs come in handy because you don't feel like you've burned a $100 ticket just to go for a couple of hours. :earsboy:

Yep, we became DVC members in 2011 (love it), and our first trip was a non-park (we did do Typhoon Lagoon) split stay between OKW and THV. It was one of our favorite trips! I was afraid our kids would be begging to go into the parks, but they never even asked. We even took the bus to DHS to take the boat to the Boardwalk and they didn't say they wished they were going into DHS. We love the pools at OKW and SSR and eating in resort restaurants. We've done surrey bikes, used the Community Halls, and just relaxed. I never thought we'd be a no-parks family, but we love those trips just as much (of course alternated with parks trips).

We had a non parks trip and loved it! We did drive and had our own car available so it was particularly easy for us to visit all the resorts - we went to every one and walked around the grounds and the lobbies. We enjoyed cocktails at many of the lounges and rode the monorail often. We cruised around on most of the available watercraft to enjoy being on the water and explore those destinations. Disney Springs is very commercial and busy but fun for an morning with lunch or afternoon with dinner. There are also several putt putt golf courses that are fun and easily accessible. Of course, lazy pool days are great, too! Do it!!!!

DH and I either go non park or very very little parks. Either way we have never been board!

Definitely spend the day at the pool or grab lunch in some different hotels like Animal Kingdom Lodge, so much to see there.

We love Disney Springs, we monorail hop and visit the boardwalk especially at night and then visit Jelly Rolls. Very talented people.

Enjoy!
