Please help me plan a non-park trip for my upcoming stay. I'm staying 4 nights and will be "between" Annual Passes. I really don't want to buy a new one yet. I'll be staying 2 nights at BCV, then 2 nights at BWV or AKL (depending on the waitlist). Or I might be staying all 4 nights at BCV (I'm waitlisted for that, too). Whichever, I know I'm at the BCV for the first two nights. Miniature Golf is close by, but I really don't think I'd enjoy miniature golf as a solo. I figure one day, I'll go to DTD shopping. And one day, I'll go to Fort Wilderness bird watching, since I'm a birder. Does anyone have any other suggestions for non-park activities for a solo?

My last trip (BWV) was basically a non-park trip,
I did go into Epcot once to hear Off Kilter and
then just left lol!
During the day...
pool hopping, ride the boats, DTD, resort hopping,
relax and read a book, go on the running/walking,
work out, get a massage or nails done at BCV, hmmm

At night...
Jellyrolls, sushi at the Kimonos & Karaoke, Jellyrolls,
hang out and watch the Boardwalk acts,
Jellyrolls, go over to the bridge and watch Illuminations,
and go to Jellyrolls!

Thanks so much-You've shown me it CAN be done. Ride the boats-I like that idea! I remember one time when I was staying at BWV and went down one evening to the dock to take the MGM/Epcot/Swan boat. The CM went down the line asking where we were going. When he got to me and I said "For a ride on the boat", everyone laughed and he looked at me like I was being some wise***. But the fact was that I'd never been on the boats after dark, with the Boardwalk all lit up-I was really looking forward to it. So I know that riding the boats can be lots of fun-thanks for the reminder.

I actually used up an entire afternoon doing that once. I got in in the morning and the rest of my party wasn't arriving until fairly late in the evening. So, I started at POR (where I was staying) and took the boat over the DTD. Wandered around for a minute and grabbed a quick bite. Then I walked over to SSR and hopped a bus to MGM. I then took the boat launch there to S&D. Got off, walked around those resorts (had never seen them) and wandered the boardwalk for a bit. Finally, I took the bus to MK and hopped on the monorail to meet people at the Poly for dinner. It was very relaxing, and, becaus ethe transportation is a tiny bit slow, it really ate up some time. I highly recommend it. :sail:

If you have a car one thing i have done is to go visit Don Garlits' museum in nearby Ocala. That is if you like to look at some fast cars.

Oh, lucky you! :goodvibes There's so many non park activities to experience!

Fort Wilderness is a world within itself! At the Fort you can bird watch, sit in a rocker on the porch at Crocketts and have a drink or read a book. Rent a bike at the bike barn and explore the resort. Horseback riding, or canoe down the canal. You could be adventurous and rent a Sea Racer and explore Bay Lake. See whats left of River Country and Discovery Island and see MK from your water mouse.

Remember that a boat runs between WL, CR, and FW on Bay Lake. So you could resort hop after leaving the Fort. Catch the monorail at CR and head over to the resorts on the monorail.

DTD shopping is a day within itself! ;) Maybe you could take a boat from DTD and go over to POR and POFQ...walking the grounds and having a bite to eat over there would be nice too!

Have a great time and enjoy. This sounds so nice...I'm ready to go solo too! :)

Sounds like something I would do (except fot the sushi)! :lmao:

Speaking of FW, how about the Seqway tours if they've started up. I think that'd be alot of fun!

definitely pool hop - one of the fun things about being a DVC member.

remember at each and every resort to look for their sale items. You never know when you might find a bargin.

shopping at DD is great too.

over at GF there is a tennis pro (the one who use to be at CR) - which give lesson and will set up a partner for you if you can play tennis.

listen to the story and do the tours at BC, WL, AKL, Polyn.

go visit Pop and walk around and see how many things you remember.

Horseback riding if you have never done that before. It is a pretty tame ride - so experience riders will not enjoy it.

definitely read a book - one of the joys of life!

go over to WL and walk the path to FW. watch for deers!

An evening at the AC!

The Trumbo ferry from DTD to SSR, OKW, and POR resorts to look around.

Monorail resorts tour.

EPCOT resorts tour.

Generally relax and recharge your batteries! :)

I did a full week non-park trip in April. Being an anal planner, I prepared just as if I were doing parks, but instead went to 1-3 different resorts each day. I managed to see all of them except the All-Stars and the DVC resorts. I walked, rented a bike, rode the boats and the monorail, and had a great time. I also planned out my dining to include some places I hadn't yet tried. The only time I missed the parks was when I was waiting for a ferry to WL and watching all the happy families heading for MK - but then I noticed just how *many* happy families were heading in, and realized I'd rather not be among them!

When I read ride the boats, I first assumed you meant the sea raycers! That is definitely one of the things I plan to do while there solo at Christmas. But I just copied out this thread to add to my file! I think a boats tour would be fantastic. I was also thinking of doing the tour of the AKL where I will be staying. And maybe - something I have never done is the campfire at FtW. Lots to do and not enough time!!!

I hope you spend two days at AKL. That's a pool that can't be "hopped" to - and it's my favorite. Then there's the animals, and the lobby tour, and the cultural activities, and the little "museums" at the intersections of the wings . . . I just LOVE it and never want to leave the lodge when I'm there.

Another thing I love to do is bus ride to random resorts - for example, take the bus from AKL to ak. Get on whatever resort bus is there close. Go to that resort, meander, hidden mickey hunt, shop, snack, go to the bus stop and get on whichever bus that comes first and go there. Switch. You can spend all day doing that! I have. There are birds at Port Orleans Riverside, Coronado Springs, and Caribbean beach resorts, too, along with boats and pretty scenery. How about a water park? I'm never lonely, because I chat up the CMS and other families and bus drivers etc.
