Non-park/meal plan guest staying with us

Hey all, quick question (I tried searching but wasn't able to pull up what I'm looking for).

My wife, my daughter and I will be staying at AOA for a week in Oct, my mom wants to drive up for a few days and stay with us to watch our daughter at night while the wife and I go to Food & Wine fest. I remember reading that when I check in to just let them know at the front desk. I just want to confirm is this possible, and if there is there a limit on the number of days she can stay. She will not be going to the parks (most likely) and will not be on our dining plan so I can't just add her to our reservation. Are there any other restrictions or things I should know while trying to accomplish this?

Yes, as long as you are not over room capacity. Tell front desk she is coming, dates so they can charge you the extra adult fee (unless you are in a suite) and get a MagicBand for her. I add someone all the time. You just can't do in advance due to your package, and they don't do partial nights in advance for room only.

You won't have an issue adding your mom to the reservation once you've checked in. You would, however, encounter one if you attempted to add her prior.

My best friend relocated to Florida over 10 years ago and she frequently joins us for part of our vacations. She spent 3 nights with us at BLT just last week and I had no issue adding her after we checked in. Since she recently moved from south to central Florida, she now has an annual pass but prior to this trip, she purchased her tickets after getting to our resort.

Thank you both - when my mom arrives it will be 3 adults, and 1 child which should be under the room capacity. I think I saw the charge is $15-25 / night, does that sound about right? Does she have full hotel access like a normal guest during the day (ability to use pools, etc.) while we are at the parks?

Pretty sure Value is $10 per night, that is what I paid in April at POP. FULL ACCESS to everything, she is a legit guest of the resort.

If you are in one of the family suites I don't believe there is an extra adult charge but there would be in the Little Mermade rooms.

We are in a Mermaid room (which my daughter thinks is the greatest thing ever) - small extra charge is fine with us, was more worried about her having full access / key card / etc.

She will have full access, she's a registered guest of the resort, just like everyone else in the room.

It might help to see it this way. While it's often described as an extra charge, what's really happening when you have 3 or more adults in the room is an increase to your room rate. Most hotel rates in the US are quoted as "double occupancy." That means that you are eligible for that rate if you have no more than two guests in the room. Disney changes that up a little and lets extra kids stay free, so double occupancy at a Disney resort means two adults.

If you go over two adults in the room, you're no longer eligible for the double occupancy rate. You're now paying a rate that's $10 higher per night.

For 2018, the extra adult fee is $15 for values, $25 for moderates, $35 for deluxe.
