Non-park days?

What are your favourite things to do on non-park days? We have 3 non-park days on our upcoming trip and I am trying to come up with some ideas of things to do. We will be relying on the buses to get anywhere we go.

We will probably do a round of mini golf and a visit to DTD.

Any other ideas?

We do lots of pool time and wonder the resort in a way we don't when we're dashing to and from buses.

DTD of course. One of these days, I'll get over to a mini golf course.

We like to "snack around the monorail" by riding to each monorail resort, getting something to eat or drink, exploring the resort and finding their pressed penny machines.

Sleep in

Eat an actual breakfast

enjoy the pools when you're the only one in them

mini-golf is fun.

Just seeing the other resorts is a lot of fun too.

I like exploring the Boardwalk area. But another thing I would do is resort hop and look at all the different resorts.

How many days are you staying? Three non park days seems like a lot.

We usually do 1 non park day for our longer 9 day trips. We swim, down town Disney and resorts.

Akl is nice and so are the monorail resorts.

There are many activities at FW....pony rides, campfire, BBQ, visiting the horse barn, etc.

We always visit FW on a non-park day. We also like to head there from the MK so we can take the boat over rather than a bus.

We have been on multiple trips where we traveled only by bus and didn't need the monorail. Sometimes it is just fun to take a ride and visit a resort along the way. Same for the boat from or to MK. Rarely use it to get to MK but like it as an additional WDW adventure.

We usually schedule a non park day after each 3-4 park days. Solely to prevent hitting the wall and ending up sick from exhaustion. So on a 12 day stay we could easily have 3 non park days.

On those days we sleep in. Have a late breakfast at our resort, or maybe another resort . Do any small chores like laundry or purchasing any needed supplies. Enjoy the pool or just laying on a chaise and relaxing in the sun. DH might get in a golf game. Browse DTD and have a late lunch. (but we won't do it this time with all the construction there).

When our kids were small we might go to a water park or to Ft. Wilderness or mini golf.

On non park evenings we enjoy having a pre dinner drink in one of the resort lounges before a leisurely signature dinner and a stroll around that resort. Or we might do a dinner show. If we're really feeling lazy we may just eat at our resort, catch the campfire, then settle down to watch the outdoor movie.

I have planned on one non park day. The ideas I have thrown around are:

1. Premium Outlets -- Would love to hit the Disney store for DD for Christmas!

2. Morning at Gatorland - If we are up to another theme park

3. Sleeping in, brunch somewhere (Boma maybe and then touring the resort), lounge at the pool, dinner at DTD or resort.

We'll see as the time gets closer what sounds best. :)

Buy the Hidden Mickeys book for your 9 year old. Mine read it and searched through our whole trip, especially our non-park days. Take it with you everywhere. Between that, and allowing time for shopping and searching out the pressed pennies, kids can kill a lot of time just being allowed to explore.

Ditto to almost all of the ideas here. But don't try mini-golf on a summer-weather afternoon if you aren't used to it and prepared for the heat. Stick to morning or evenings.

We love to boat and monorail hop.

Our best day was spent 1/2 in the pool and 1/2 at FW. We ate lunch there, youngest DD was small enough to ride the pony ride. Oldest DD had to come back the next morning to join in the trail ride because of her bigger size. Last ride leaves right after lunch and is often full. Research that because you might find yourself in a situation where your kids can only do 1 or the other, but not the same because of the age difference. Exploring the barn is fun, and I really would have liked to stay for a wagon ride instead of the horse riding.

We save character dining for non-park days. If you have a princess loving daughter, consider 1900 Park Fare at dinner.

Ditto on the Resort Hop.

Take the morning and do the monorail resorts, check out the grounds, pools, lobbies, maybe check out the community hall, then Hop onto a bus maybe near MK, and check out the Boardwalk..Either/and the resorts and also plenty of restaurants between the boardwalk & BC/YC.:thumbsup2

FW as others have stated is a nice ,different thing to do too.

Maybe try going to DTD 1 day, and maybe an hour or so before lunch time, embark onto a boat and take a nice ride up the Sassagoula River, and see the other resorts there as you pass by. You'll see SSR, The treehouses, OKW, POFQ, & finally last stop POR. Get off there and view the lovely scenery & grounds, and enjoy a nice lunch at Boatwrights. ;)

Have a great time.... DizDad

Take the monorail around the resorts and eat, drink, let the kids explore the arcades, stroll the beaches, etc. Take the bus to the AKL and look at the animals. There are 2 mini golf places and we like them both. The water parks can be very relaxing for adults if your kid(s) find the resort pool boring. Walk around the town of Celebration (not sure if there is a bus or not).

My husband hates that I over plan on our park days (but understands its a necessary evil now, finally) and asks me NOT to plan our non-park days. So I'll pretty plan our TS meals those days and the rest will be go with the flow.

While we are talking non-park days... i was planning to do a water park and dinner at 1900 on our non-park day.... does that then make it a park day? :confused3 thinking we could sleep in hit the water park then grab dinner at 1900 and it should be a lazy day compared to the rest of the 9 days

Hmmm.:confused3 Sounds to me like a perfect off day...:thumbsup2

Awesome! We have never been long enough to have an off day or when the water parks are open... this is my first 9 day trip...

Be careful, because once you've done this it'll be hard to go back to a typical week.....7 nights.LoL

I did BWV in 2012 summer and it was 11 nights....Wow was that awesome....This upcoming trip I'm trying to get a few different resorts for around 12-14 days if possible...

Enjoy your trip:goodvibes
