There are not many things on our 'must do' list. We have done most of it before. Not that it isn't fun the second or twelfth time... I was thinking of a non-park day. Maybe checking out the other resorts, or spending time at our own. I have not been to the Boardwalk. Is it worth a day? A half day?Or an evening? Does anyone have input or advice for a non-park day?

On our last couple of visits we really enjoyed reserving a day for sleeping a bit later, hanging around the resort pool, going to a nice early dinner and then either watching park fireworks from outside the park or going in just for that. That would be a good time to visit the Boardwalk, as we've never found much to keep us occupied there beyond a couple of hours.

After 40+ years of visits we didn't realize how much we could enjoy just hanging around the pool with a few drinks.

We love non-park days. We like to sleep in and then have a lunch at one of the resorts. From there, we like to resort hop. My favorite is to ride the monorail to all 3 resorts and explore. We will walk around for a bit taking in the things we normally don't appreciate, looking at the gift shops, etc. Then my DW and I will grab a drink at the lounge and give the kids some money for the arcade. They love finding new games at all the arcades. Of course, all the other resorts are fun to visit too. If you hit the AKL about an hour before dark, you can see the animals, roast marshmallows, look at the artwork and artifacts on display, then see the animals again with the night vision goggles. Stay and watch the movie by the pool. All the resorts have evening activities that you can partake in if you are staying on-site. I think the only taboo is using other resort pools.

We usually do a non-park day somewhere in the middle where we sleep in, have a leisurely breakfast, hit the pool, nap, then hit Downtown Disney for shopping and dinner before turning in early for a good night's sleep so we can hit the parks hard at rope drop the next morning. Our next trip (52 days!) will be a little different, though, as our non-park afternoon will be spent at the Wide World of Sports complex for a spring training game between the Braves and Mets.
