non-MM Peter Pan dash?

Hi!
I'm familar with the dash toward Peter Pan from my old WDW days - I've been reading through the DL boards and looks like there's a similar atmosphere there (my kids are used to me yelling my mantra: "SAFE but purposeful!!" :upsidedow).
Looks like we won't be there on a MM morning - would folks recommend a different plan of attack if we're entering on a non-MM day? Or should we still head toward FL with the rest of the early risers?
Thanks!

We always hot PP then Dumbo first. Then have a runner to get Fp for Space while the rest of us get in line for Nemo. Some folks here do Nemo at night during the parade or Fantasmic. But I like the ride during the day. Then we head back to Fl to ride Matterhorn, Alice then the other rides

thanks - I'll start prepping them for the dash now (only 6 weeks left to 'train'!)

Jenn, I hope I'm wrong (because I'm there from May 27 to Jun 1 myself), but if you're going in 6 weeks, PP may still be down for refurb. I saw at Laughing Place today that it's scheduled to be down until Jun 7.

What about Toy Story Mania? The lines were 90-120 minutes last month at DHS. How are they at DCA? Our two must-do rides are Indy and TSM. How should we plan our attack?

Yikes, I haven't even considered the rehab list! We'll be there May 30-June 5
I was thinking I'd get my plan of attack and then edit the week before we go (you know, gotta keep busy those last few days or I drive everyone crazy )
In fact...I SHOULD be grading papers right now but I'm just too stinkin' excited. Trip planning seems like so much more fun than term papers.

I'm totally NOT an expert planner...but my advice is always go early. You might even be able to do DL and Indy first (right at opening). Then cross to DCA and be first in the gates for Toy Story.

How many Days at DLR?

& what are the dates and/or days of week?

Will you have MM?

Anything else important besides TSMM & Indy?

For One Day:

You should ride Indy first (or nab a FP early) to ensure you get to ride it.

For TSMM, you could do as Jenn mentions & get to DCA 30 minutes prior to opening.....or do it around lunch time depending on the crowds/date/day of week etc. (so you don't cut into your prime early morning DL touring & FP collecting.

Have a great time at Walt's Park. :thumbsup2

When we were there in November (T'giving time), we got to DCA 30 minutes early. They lined up for TSM at the side by GRR. While my family waited, i got FP for Soarin. Now usually they do not give out FP until the park opens. But I read here that they started at 30 minutes til rope drop AND they start riding at that time as well. We "walked with Purpose" (love that term!) in a group over to TSM. We got on within 5 minutes of queing and got right back in line for a 15 minute wait a 2nd time.
Have fun!

Ballarinamom, a couple of questions on this strategy:

- Did you line up 30 min. early at DCA? (or 40 min. etc?)
- Did you line up at the main entrance (or were you a hotel guest & lined up at the GCH)?
- If the main entrance, were you lined up behind the GCH folks once you got inside DCA & were lining up over near Griz Rapids?
- After completing the TSM two'fer....had enough time passed (since you picked up the Soarin' FP at 9:35-9:45) for you to pick up your second FP (at Screamin' next door to TSM)?

Thanks. :thumbsup2

Hmmmmm . . . sounds like Hound may be scheming, I mean planning another trip for some corny dogs and needs to secure his TSMM strategy. ;)

When we were there at the end of January we got to DCA at about 9:15. When they opened at 9:30, we went straight to Soarin', rode that, and had plenty of time to wait at the rope drop at GRR. At this time, they were NOT doing a line up for TSM. We "walked with purpose" and just about walked on TSM. Maybe 20 people or so were in front of us. I realize this was in the low season though and is probably very different at peak times.

What do people mostly do on a MM when Peter Pan is down? Does Nemo get more crowded?

Maybe because it was a slower time? We were there during Thanksgiving time and did TSM on the Saturday before Turkey Day. It was crowded and they had a rope up at GRR ready to walk everyone over.

Ok Hound, let's see if I get it all :thumbsup2

WE got into DCA when the turnstiles opened up. We were maybe 5th in line. We first went to the wine country side. There was a rope up there with a CM/ Security guy. I saw several folks walking to Condor Flats so I asked the CM where they lined up for TSM. He told me to go over by GRR. As we past Soarin' I got the FP while family conitnued on. We past the hotel entrance up closer to GRR. They had the rope up just before the big tall Grizzly statue. Everyone was mixed together. A few minutes before actual rope drop, we started walking "with purpose" and the CM around Golden State to Ariel's and a temp TSM que that was set up by the rail that overlooks the "lake" and just before the to the Screaming que. We did TSM twice before 20 minutes after rope drop. But then we took a potty break, rode King Triton, The Orange, Jumping Jellyfish and Mulholland. Didn't need FP for Mulholland yet as it wasn't very busy and we walked right on. But DH had grabbed some FP just in case for later. So we headed to BugsLife and Hollywood for Monsters and Anumation. Dh ran and grabbed another Soarin' FP when our window opened I think just before Animation and our 3rd Monsters ride. Took pics with a few pics with Sully, Woody, the Incredibles and the WallE cutout. We even did the preshow for TOT. DMIL and DD wanted to do the preshow knowing they would take the chicken way out. Then did Soarin once. Then on to Ariels for 1:00 PS. So all of this in 3 hours? Pretty good I thought

Thanks Ballerinamom. :thumbsup2

Did you line up at 9:30....or a little earlier?

Excellent information! I would have thought the DLR hotel folks would have had a few steps head start.

We did TSM twice before 20 minutes after rope drop. But then we took a potty break, rode King Triton.....

I'm guessing that about this time the FP window might have opened up & a Screamin' FP might be nabbed about now (if one wanted to).:hippie:

....., The Orange, Jumping Jellyfish and Mulholland. Didn't need FP for Mulholland yet as it wasn't very busy and we walked right on. But DH had grabbed some FP just in case for later. So we headed to BugsLife and Hollywood for Monsters and Anumation.

....& Crush??? :yay:

Dh ran and grabbed another Soarin' FP when our window opened....

Was THIS the first window opening from your Soarin' FP??? About what time was this?

I think just before Animation and our 3rd Monsters ride.

Great information, Ballerinamom. Thanks. :thumbsup2

You all got ALOT done in 3 hours!

Next time you see Woody....tell him Hound says Hi. :cool2:

Ballarinamom - what time did you show up to be 5th in line? We are going on June and that sounds like an awesome plan :)

Thanks for sharing!!

-AA's Mom

Not as early as we got to DL, maybe 30 minutes before the turnstiles let us in. When we do DL, I head over a good 45 minutes early and DH brings DD over later so they aren't so rushed. He's a lot more laid back than I!! :rotfl2:We were going to DCA the Saturday before Thanksgiving. So June may have similar crowds. Now many ran over to ride Soarin. But I had read hear that if you ride Soarin' first, you would not make it onto TSM at rope drop. That's why we just grabbed a FP.

Hound- We didn't do Crush as we have done it several times and DD was not interested. I know!
As for the second FP for Soarin', I think the window was just opening when I was doing the TOT preshow. I'm sure the window had been open a bit but DH didn't do TOT and just headed over to grab one.
