Non-Member - Should I Rent?

Sorry in advance if this is not where I should be posting this question...just not sure where to go with it -

Trying to just plan a last minute trip - *****- and wondering if I should consider "renting" from an owner - is that how it works and would I end up geting a better deal, rather than just booking on my own at a Disney hotel?

You most likley will not find any renter for such a close date not to mention that there is likley no rooms this close to your travel date.

DVC and timeshares in general work best if book 11 months in advance.

OP, I would at least give the ppl on the rental boards a shot-see if they can get anything. Sometimes you an even find an already booked ressie for the dates you want or close to it.

Don't mean to go against the PPs' comment-just saying it's worth at least looking into. We have rented in the past-even during times when there was nothing available but were able to find an owner who had booked something and was renting the pre-arranged reservation.

You'll have to pay the owner before they will even make the reservation because if you don't pay them, they will be stuck with points in holding after they cancel. Not many members will make a reservation at less than 30 days out without cash in hand.

You could also go through David's (www.dvcrequest.com) and see if he can get you anything. He often will post some last minute deals, but not sure if he has any out right now. As for availability, you never know, I added on the 6-7th (granted weekends) just a couple of weeks ago.
