I feel silly because I know this MUST have been discussed somewhere.....but I can't find it when searching. Apologies if I missed an obvious answer.

Does anyone have suggestions for foundation/make up that will last more than 10 minutes in the September heat and humidity?

I grew up in Titusville, FL so you think I would know this already. But that was a looooong time ago and I didn't have wrinkles then. ;)

TIA for any thoughts/advice/suggestions/what-not.

MAC studio fix liquid is the best I've found in the heat. Nashville also has brutal summers so I finally figured that out. I use MAC studio face and body in winter.

I skip wearing any heavy foundation or eye make-up. I find it much more comfortable and less hassle to simply apply a tinted moisturizer/sunscreen instead. Set with a light brush on powder, and a touch of blush. Add a pretty tinted lip balm, and I'm good to go all day in the parks. :sunny:

I use Laura Mercier tinted oil free moisturizer which is fairly light and has SPF. Use a setting powder on top. Nothing is going to look good when you're sweating like crazy, especially heavy makeup.

I have the same problem, and I'm thinking about going the Glossier route for my upcoming August vacation. Rather than worrying about keeping a full face of makeup from melting, I'd like to try the Perfecting Skin Tint with some super light eye makeup, mascara, blush, + lip gloss. I really want to wear makeup because of how many pictures I take when I go to the Parks, but it always melts off by noon and it's such a pain to wake up so early to get my routine done before rope drop.

Aside from foundation, I get eyelash extensions for vacation. I have pretty long eyelashes and love to exaggerate them. I don't want to fuss with runny mascara on vacation and it cuts down on getting ready time and you always have perfect eyelashes. If you wear makeup, I'd suggest it. I do a number of things pre-trip to keep my getting ready time minimal while still looking nice. I ran out of time last trip for some selfcare stuff and it was really annoying on the trip.

I just wear sunscreen and no makeup when in FL, but it would be nice to have a non-melting makeup for warmer months. I typically only wear makeup to work or for an evening out when it is hot. I may try the MAC Studio for work.

Backstory: My sister got married last summer on what had to be the hottest, most humid day I’ve ever seen in my life. I got all the way to our hotel and realized my carefully cultivated collection of “please don’t melt off during the rehearsal dinner” makeup was sitting on my dresser at home.

I did not really want to spend another small fortune on “backup makeup” and so when the Ulta employee recommended a ton of drugstore brands and assured me they would stay on at least as long as the rehearsal dinner (including walking all over, outdoors, in the previously mentioned pea-soup humidity) I took my chances.

That employee did not steer me wrong and now these are my staple Disney/ summer makeup items:
Rimmell matte primer (this one wins where so, so, so many others have failed)
ELF eyeshadow primer
It! Cosmetics CC cream (feels amazing on my face and has spf 50)
Revlon Colorstay eye shadow or Rimmell Scandal Eyes eyeshadow paint (I stick to lighter more neutral colors for the most part so that it doesn’t look heavy)
NYX Epic liquid eyeliner pen (does not budge, ever, until I remove it. It has even held up through a good cry)
L’Oreal Voluminous mascara (I don’t even need the waterproof one, the regular stays put just fine)
ELF cream blush (just seems to stick on better than powders)
Milani Make it Last charcoal setting spray (this is another drugstore brand shock- it holds up better and keeps me matte longer than the Urban Decay setting spray I swore by for the longest time).
Ben Nye setting spray is also great and I use that on occasions when I know I plan on being in a lot of photos.

I do blot throughout the day and touch up concealer/ lips as needed but my face makes it at least 10 hours with all of this on (and none of it feels heavy or looks caked on- I forget I’m wearing makeup). Full disclosure- I don’t wear a full face of makeup every day to the parks. My skin would revolt (setting spray in particular is not great for your skin).

Thanks!

I should also add, another key to success is to let each layer dry for a few minutes. So I swipe with toner, let it dry for a few minutes. Moisturize and/ or sunscreen, let it dry for a few minutes. Apply primer (Pat it on, don’t rub it in), let dry and so on. Basically anything liquid gets a few minutes of dry time before the next step (during which I brush teeth/ comb hair/ start getting dressed etc. to keep the whole process moving).

My clinque dramatic lash mascara has actually NEVER rubbed off! (even in pouring rain).
My elf bb cream with the elf primer underneath, & setting spray lasts me all day.
For eyebrows, I use NYX precision brow, and that lasts me as well.
(Protip: bring oil blotting paper, [you can get it cheap at target] and use it for when you feel your face start to melt/feel oily. It picks up and rids all the oil, before it can ruin your face.)

Well, I am born and raised here on the Space Coast, too. Bonus, I have huge, red scars on my chin from a surgery and I am super self conscious of them. I use Kat Von D Lock It foundation. In a pinch, I can use Revlon Colorstay but it needs reapplying. Frankly, I don't really care if the rest of my face melts off, but I NEED my foundation to last. Her eyeliner stays put through a hurricane, too, though.

YAY I love this question- I'm a makeup junkie and I love talking beauty products & learning what others use!

Agree with the above- a good primer under your foundation & concealer will work magic! I've tried MAC Photo Finish and a few other high-end brands but honestly ELF primer is the best thing I've tried. I use Urban Decay Setting Spray all over my face right before applying mascara & rarely have any transfer issues.

My last Pro Tip: at just about any drug store they sell teeny travel-sized bottles of Evian water spray. Throw one of those in your park bag & mist your face/neck/chest when you're feeling sweaty. It neutralizes sweat without affecting your makeup & leaves you feeling refreshed. Enjoy your vacation!

Update, live from the field:I applied my makeup at 7 AM, hoped it would last until we were done meeting Mickey and Minnie at 9:30 AM. It’s now nearly 7 PM and for the most part it has not budged. I’ve blotted and I’ve reapplied lip gloss and that’s it.

I’m so trying some of these products :) I happen to like estee lauder double wear myself. One thing I have learned - the high end brands will give you samples to try at home and are perfect for travel. When I buy more I always ask for a few since the bottles are so small and perfect for flying with. Also, if your hesitant to drop 40 or more on a product it’s a good way to try it out and make sure it works. I’ve never had an issue even not purchasing when I want to try a new foundation doing this.

I also second what a pp said about waiting for each layer to dry. I do this daily- what I do is start with my moisturizer and then brush my teeth, then the next layer and while that dries I do my hair, etc. that way I’m not wasting time while the layers dry...
