Non guest visiting at resort?

HI - we are staying at CBR for a week and we have a friend who lives in West Palm Beach. He wants to drive up to see us for a day or two. He'll probably just sleep on the floor of our hotel, he's not picky.

Will he be able to park there overnight?

Think this will be a problem for him to park/stay/swim with us?

If you don't exceed the room limit CBR won't have a problem with it. Mention it when he gets there. Will he be going to the parks? If so and he is the 3rd adult there will be an additional charge. Some have reported that they weren't charged when the guest showed up. For EMH the guest would have to have a resort card or he wouldn't be able to take advantage of the extra magic hours.

You should ask if it is ok that you have a guest that would like to use the pool.

At the guard shack the visitor can say they are going to the gift shop or they want to look around the resort. They may ask for a photo id but then will wave them through.

You tell the gate guard you are visiting a friend who is staying there. They will ask the guest name and might have to verify it. But it's usually a wave through. The driver will have to show ID before getting through, though. We find that if you are prepared when you pull up and have your license in your hand, you're done in a matter of a minute or two.

A guest? Are you sure you are not asking us how to sneak someone
in with out paying for them?

A guest stays the day and visits you.
A “guest” is not someone that stays a night or two on the floor. That's
a guest of the hotel not yours.

The maids/ staff know how many and who stays in a room, that's how
towel animals turn up.

Wouldn’t it be better to just pay for them and not chance the embarrassment of getting caught?

My siste drove up from Port Charlotte area and stayed with us 2 nights at the Por. They told us at the front desk it was no problem and we did not exceed our room limit.
As for Just Mom's comments, I think they were uncalled for. He is asking a question, not being judged!! And the towel animal comment

Luvtogo glad to hear from you; however uncalled for: not really. Let’s say that when my children pay for 2 gum drops but try and take 3 from the bowl knowingly – well I know what it’s called. If you’re not trying to be sneaky why not just be upfront about it when you check in at guest services? Disney is always trying to help their guest; they will send you two parking passes.
Towel animals- Let me explain. When ever I have stayed at a Disney resort with children I have always received towel animals. They have always magically appeared and are greatly appreciated. When I have stayed with no children at a resort any towel animals (this might be different for others).My children have always loved receiving the magical little things that are left for them to play with in their room. I hope this helps your confusion.

First off, the OP has not said she is not going to pay the additional adult charge, as Safetymom suggested.

She is a family of 2 with a child, so she is not over her room limit. All she needs to do is let the front Desk know on that night she has an extra adult, they will decide if she needs to pay the additional 3rd adult in the room charge.

I am all for following rules, as everyone knows, however I would never jump to conclusions about what anyone plans to do based on a few facts.

OP never mentioned adding the additional guest to her reservation and paying the extra adult charge. Doing that would get an extra parking pass and resort id card which would certainly allow the visitor to stay, park and swim at the resort.

The fact that OP is asking here, as opposed to asking at the front desk, certainly implies a reluctance to pay the extra adult charge.

She also only has 30 something posts to her name and possibly planning a first time trip, I don't think her post implies anything.

As to asking here instead of asking at the front desk, if everyone did that there would be no need for these forums at all.

It is very possible she was not even aware of the additional adult charge.

I certainly would not want some of you on a jury, you certainly seem to be able to take a few statements and predetermine guilt.

I had a friend come up from FLL and stay for a few nights back in 1995, I had no idea I was doing anything wrong. MY TA is actually the one who said not to add her since I was buying a package and she already had passes.

for one thing Sharibrat is not a he but a she.
We all know that when more adults stay in a room the
hotels will charges us based on this. (this goes for Disney
as well) OP is well traveled by her own account.

their wedding dress was hung up with care.

When the maid see there are children in the room
They will sometimes leave a towel animal. The maid
will see there are not 2 adults and one child in the room
but 3 adults. Even the floor supervisor will be able to tell.

I have been at the resort when two couples shared a room and
only one was registered. It was very embarrassing to listen to the conversation.

Having a guest visit you at the resort has nothing to do with whether or not you get towel animals in your room.




The OP was just asking about the proper procedure to follow when having somebody over. No need to get all lecturey.

Holy cow!! I had no idea my question was going to turn into this.

JUST MOM, yes, you ARE jumping to some conclusions!!! We are well travelled, but as you will see, we go to almost the same place every year. Where we stay in Key West (the actual town of Key West, not the Disney resort), this friend always visits us for a night, sleeps on our couch and swims in the pool with us. It has never been a problem. This is my first time ever planning a trip to Disney and staying at a resort in Disney.

Not knowing the policy at Disney, I was simply asking here. I had no idea there were gate guards, floor monitors and all these other things. He is a Florida resident and will be paying for his own park tickets. I simply wanted to know if he would even be allowed to get to our hotel and park there and possibly join us IF we choose to swim that day. I don't know if he is spending the night, but just wanted my bases covered in case he does.

I will certainly ask all of this at the hotel, but like somebody else mentioned, we all ask questions here that we could also ask the hotel, Disney,etc. It doesn't mean we are trying to get away with something.

THank you all, who defended me and gave me the benefit of the doubt while I failed to check the responses and see that all of this was going on! I still have no idea what the towel animals have to do with anything either!

I'm sure DCGrumpy that there are pleanty of hotels that
don't charge for the extra adult (we probally all have stay at one).
Lets be realistic here, why else sleep on the floor - this has
me reminiscing over college days.

Yet we know that simpliy going to the Disney web site or to a travel agent
for booking the extra adult is charged for. This isn't her fist time at Disney
that was 1998 - not that long ago.


Ok here is the towel animal analogy/ story broken down.
maid cleans room
maid see children are using a room
maid leave towel animals.
or...
maid cleand room (or supervisor checks rooms)
see another adult is using room
visit from staff and very embarrassing to all
= i love when my kids get towel animals

I realized you meant Key West as in the City not Resort,
that was very clear. I have visited Key west (City) many times and
most of the Hotels there have the same rule ..
You know the old slogan Kids stay free ... not adults stay free.

Yet you did stay at Disney in 1998 acording to your posts.
and if you well travel you know the rules of the road.

A simple call to the front desk is well known by all travelers.
A short heads up here - the beds at Disney when pregnant are better
if you ask for extra pillows. (a call into the front desk)

Think this will be a problem for him to park/stay/swim with us
