Okay, so I've been on the hunt the past few weeks for a bag that is NOT a fanny pack yet can still hold a decent amount of stuff, get wet, and not fly out of my arms on a coaster....does any such thing exist?

I've been looking at the nylon drawstring bags, but I know those get so uncomfortable after some time. I've also looked at mini-one shoulder bags....I just don't know what to pick.

Anything stylish, comfy, waterproof and not gigagantic out there??!

try a sling type bag, from wal mart about 14.00, mine holds everything except diapers for our family of 5

Go to wal-mart and look by the backpacks. They have some nifty small bag that hold everything. They cost about 6-7 bucks.

I've seen some very lightweight "laptop" backpacks out there that claimed to be water resistant (not sure I'd take it on kali, but probably Splash!) that had removable center panels. They were about 3/4 the size of a normal backpack in height and width and about 1/4 as wide, and looked very comfy and like they would hold plenty of park things like a drink bottle. I've seen low-cost ones in Wal Mart in the office supplies section and some nicer ones through other office supply outlets. *shrugs and grins* maybe that's what you're looking for?

I like the Kipling bags. There are Kipling bag stores in some airports and malls. They are nylon, (rip-stop material?) lightweight and water resistant. They come in a lot of different styles and they pack great. They probably have an on-line store. The cool thing about these is that I can throw it in the washing machine on gentle and it looks great. Sometimes TJ maxx has them too.

I have to respond to a bag thread...I LOVE bags! Sadly, I usually bring a large suitcase so that I can bring a few different bags!

Good luck!

 I got a great bag..might be what you are talking about.. i think its called east?? something?? It has a strap so you can wear it over your shoulder or across your chest, front zipper that hold $, id, etc..It can easily hold a camera, couple of poncho's, then I use my water bottle clip (look like the kind rock climbers use) also walmart...in the fitness area..

Bag is only about 9 or 10"h x 5 or 6"w x 3"d

I bought the Ameribag sling and it's great. They have their own website, or you can go through bagselect like I did.

I used a teardrop style bag for our last trip - I got mine at LLBEAN.... worked out wonderful, and plan on using again in September.

Baggallini Messenger Bagg

I've always carried an over the shoulder tote bag because I like to carry lots of "just in case" items like first aid stuff, sunscreen, towels, raincoats, etc...The bag always ended up hurting my shoulder and leaving marks by the end of a long day!

This year, I purchased two new bags after reading other DIS boarders' advice. I bought the Baggallini Messenger Bagg for the parks and the Baggallinni Expandable Tote for the plane and/or carrying souvenirs home. The tote was much bigger than I'd realized (I hadn't checked the measurements) but the messenger bag seems like it will do the trick. It's worn diagonally across the fron with the smallish backpack worn in the back. A little smaller than I'm used too, but lots of place to store things. Baggallini also has a number of other styles. The bags come in Crinkle Nylon, Ripstop Nylon or Microfiber and in a ton of colors. I ordered mine in boring Black Microfiber but I'll have my Lime Green Mickey head ribbons tied to the zippers!

I ordered mine from Cherry Lane Keepsakes and received them only a few days later! I know eBags carries them as well and Mousesavers usually offers a discount code.

Have a magical trip!

nylon lightweight backpack from LEI. I bought it for like $5 a few years back from some department store. I love it. I can sling it if I want. On rides that don't offer storage, I put it on in front of me so I can sit back properly. It withstands downpours and Kali rapids (but I store it on that ride). I keep my digi in there along with all sorts of crapola-meds, keenex, ponchos, cell phones, girly products.

I would check at Walmart for something lightweight and nylon. I love mine- even loaned it to a friend when they went to Six Flags.

I purchased two Jantzen Sportsbags that are messenger bag-like with zipper in the front. Can carry ponchos, wallet, disposable camera plus much more. Sure got my (clearance priced) $$$ out of these babies!

I agree with dreamofdisney, the Baggalini Messenger Sling Bag is the way to go. I bought one from Ebags last year for our WDW trip in DIS board Green!
It was perfect. Holds water on side, lots of compartments, cell phone holder in strap.
Have a great time.

I got a Jansport Madison...It's a sling bag that goes diagonally across your body- But if you don't want to spend that much money I'm sure you could find something at walmart. You can waterproof ANY bag by treating it with scotchguard.

really? how do you "treat" a bag? :confused3 lol (I'm not very handy around the house or in general...)

Is the messanger bag big enough for diapers, change of clothes for 3 little ones, wipes ECT......

Thanks!

I'll post a pic from the net here, but I'd have to say no...unless you roll them really tightly! Diapers and a change of clothes for one, plus all the other regular day-tripping essentials: Definitely enough room. But probably not enough room for the amount of stuff it takes to be prepared for three little ones. The dimensions are 13" x 10' x 4".

If it's not big enough, check out the other Baggallini bags. Lots of styles in tons of sizes, colors and fabrics!

I just ordered the same bag last night! I tried my Mom's and was going to borrow hers, but decided to get my own! The large inside compartment is totally compartmentalized and has 2 key hooks. It is called the "Healthy Back Bag". Right now they have the reg. sized one that normally sells for $59 on sale for $29. Only 2 colors, but "Lagoon Blue" (somewhat denim looking) works for me! (Just look under the "Sale" section on the left hand side of their home page.

I ordered the Baggallini Messenger Bagg, but found the strap to be entirely too big- part of it is made out of the same stuff seat belts are made from ... and just as wide! The main compartment is just a big space- I really like to have all the little pockets, straps, elastic holders, etc. I did like the 'rip-stop' fabric and the bag seemed well constructed, just not what I need to organize and I think the wide strap would bother me. I will be returning mine.

Good luck on your search!
