Non-drowsy medication....

Each and everyone makes me sleepy.

I swear--it makes me even more sleepy than a "drowsy" version.

out like a light with claritin (non-drowsy) the one time I had it about a month ago.


Today--2nd dose of sudafed...knocking me out. Non-drowsy!!!

Is it just me?

DH says that a tylenol would knock me out! I took a Claritin last week and felt like I was in a fog for a couple of days after.

I started taking Claritin a couple weeks ago, I have never had allergy problems until this year. The first 3-4 days I was in a medicine fog but now I am used to it and don't have any problems. I can't take anything either, they all knock me out or work TOO well, like Sudafed dries me out so much my nose bleeds.

i wouldn't say they make me sleepy, but they certainly do affect my thinking. They make me foggy.

About 2 wks ago, I had to take the new Tylenol Cough & Sore Throat liquid medicine. (first of all -- YUCK!!!!!) Good thing I didn't go to work, I would have made SOOOOO many mistakes.

Allergy meds like Claritin make me sleepy if I don't take them regularly. I used to take Zyrtec daily, and after a week or two, I was fine. Now I take Claritin just as needed, and it knocks me out every time.

Most of those things make me sleepy, too. I started taking Claritin yesterday... I'm ready for bed by 8pm!! I took it rather than my Zyrtec because Zyrtec has me napping in the afternoon.

OMG Yes! I'm exactly like that! I can't take sudafed, claritin, Alavert, all the "non drowsy" versions - - you name it - - they knock me out. Benadryl really puts me out! I know if I ever need a good night sleep to just take a Benadryl! I have terrible seasonal allergies and tried to get by with the over the counter meds, finally I had to call my doctor who has this thing about prescribing zyrtec. Well, one of the side effects is drowsiness and let me tell you they aren't kidding! I need to call my doctor and ask for something else b/c when I take the Zyrtec it takes away my allergy symptoms but I am so sleepy I can barely function.
