We will be at DLR Aug. 12-17 and plan to go to Universal Studios one of those days. We would like to spend our first day, Friday, at Disneyland and need to make our last day, Wednesday, a Disney day, too, because it'll just be a partial park day due to a late afternoon flight home. So that leaves Saturday, Sunday, Monday or Tuesday to go to Universal. With crowds being the main factor, which would you recommend? Based on what I've read on here, Mondays in general - and especially Monday, August 15 - might be the best to skip DLR and go to Universal instead. Is that correct?

I like the idea of skipping DLR on Monday and doing Universal that day.

But, what’s your plan to get to Universal and back? The drive from DLR to Universal is around 30 minutes exit to exit with no traffic. But there will be traffic (and possibly accidents and construction) so depending on the time of day you are making the drive it could actually be 90+ minutes, especially on a weekday. Plan to travel early in the morning and later in the evening, or plan to just deal with the long drive.
