Ok - what can I do for about $1500-$2000 (not per person - total) that is warm and sunny, and good for a single mom and 9 yr old daughter? We have done DL last year but want something more relaxing this year. I am thinking March (I know - very busy, but want to try for spring break so she doesn't miss school). I want something on a beach and preferably all inclusive. I was thinking of a cruise or a resort....I would like to pay upfront and not have anything else to pay once we are there (other than normal incidentals like tips and excursions/drinks,etc..).
Thanks for any ideas!

:goodvibes My mother and I just came back from the Dominican Republic. We got a last minute all inclusive for $1400.00 total at a 4 star.(for the two of us.) (LTI- beach club resort.) It was great! beautiful pool, beachside, buffets (my favorite). We took a couple of day tours from the resortat about $60.00 us each. Would do this again in a heartbeat. I would suggest going to a travel agancy and asking about sell offs. You can get really good deals and if you explain what you are looking for... relaxing or sporting. they can help you find something great. I usually go to www.Belairetravel.com and type in different things to see what is available before going to my travel agent. Just remember when you look at the prices there are taxes added that can bump each rate up. Happy shopping. Just wanted to add that we went to the Dollar store before our trip and bought school supplies and lipsticks (the three packs) things like that to tip with as well as money. Most all inclusives include tipping but we found that leaving them items they have difficulty getting was appreciated as well. We might leave a lipstick at our dinner table ect. for the wait staff. I also got some of those little fiber optic flashlights and all the staff wanted them for their kids. One dollar Canadian well... $1.15 could last us three tips which kept our budget lower then paying out $1 us everytime and as we had packed the stuff we had room left in luggage and we had to carry less money. Also for some reason flying out on a wed. seems to shave hundred's off the vacation price.

How about Hawaii? I think Westjet now flies directly from Vancouver to Maui and Honolulu. You could check Expedia.ca to see what hotel is available at the time you are travelling. If you can find some last minute sale, you might be able to book a reasonably priced trip.

Try Mexico. We went to Puerto Vallerta a few years ago to a good all inclusive that had a wonderful childrens program. Lot's of activities and a day trip into the city is a great idea as it is a wonderful place to see.
