Looking for reccomendations on a place to stay in the Falls for an anniversary getaway in Feb. Thanks for any and all the input.

We went for our anniversary in Oct. We stayed at the Brock plaza. It was beautiful. But be warned, the hotel is very old and the rooms very small. We actually had a key, not a card but a key! I had never seen that in a hotel before. The rooms were beautiful and very centrally located. The service was fantastic and the hotel beautifully decorated. We were looking to be cozy anyway! In less than 5 mins we could walk to the falls, Victoria Hill (the main drag with all the cheesy fun touristy things), and numerous restaurants.
One thing I will mention is that we found it hard to find places to eat. We are not fans of HardRock, Rainforest Cafe etc. We find them WAY overpriced for the poor service and mediocre food. I have no problem eating at a Kelsey's at home but found they were much more expensive there. We sat down at Planet Hollywood (hardly my idea of a romantic anniversary dinner but we it was late and we were having trouble deciding on a place), read the menu and left. Spaghetti was $15 and a martini was $8! We ended up at a place called Monticello's which was outstanding. The service was fantastic, the food to die for and the atmosphere was perfect for a romantic dinner. It was a little pricey (my veal entree was approx $20) but I didn't feel that bad after realizing I would have paid the same for fajitas at PH. My DH had the muscles and he still raved about tham. To find it you would go up Victoria hill to the 1st main intersection and then turn right. It was approx half a block up on the left hand side of the street.
If that is not your style there was Kelsey's, Perkin's and several others very close by. There was also a beautiful restaurant in the Brock and it is also attached to the Sheraton which I am sure has a restaurant. The restaurant in the hotel overlooks the falls as you eat.

We just went a few months back and stayed at the Embassy Suites on the Canadian side. The view from the room was breathtaking!!! The hotel very nice with a great location. Warning: Do not go to the free breakfast in the morning!! It was horrible. Everyone in the hotel gets it...........it is cafeteria style and nearly a riot broke out when we were there. We left and went to Appleby's across the street one morning andDennys a little farther down the street the next morning!

The steak restaurant in the hotel was good. Great views!!!

Check them out online..............sorry but I don't know how to give you a link.

Hi,

It would help if you gave us an idea of what you are looking for? The Falls is like Orlando, you can go budget or pay a fortune. We had a king jacuzzi room deal at Courtyards of Marriott 2 years ago. The room was nice, the package came with a buffet breakfast (excellent--even had real whipping cream for your crepes) and a dinner at the Keg or TGIFs. Can't recall the price but it was a good deal..place was a 3.5 star, I'd say. If you want to pay abit more, you could always look at the new casino as well, the rooms look quite nice or if you want to go abit cheaper, theres a brand new Days Inn and Suites that opened this year. We stayed there in the summer for a few days and we were pretty impressed with the King Jacuzzi suite there...but make sure its the new one.

I would check out the Holiday Inn by the falls. They have a great package that includes:

Two nights' luxury accommodation in a beautifully appointed room.
- Dinner for two overlooking the Falls at the Revolving Dining Room high
atop the world famous Skylon Tower.
- Breakfast for two each morning in the hotel's dining room.
- Dinner for two at the Holiday Inn's Mr. Coco's Terrace Steak House.
----PLUS----
- Full use of our whirpool spa, indoor pool and sauna.
- Free parking.

All for $128 per person.

I stayed there with this package a couple of years ago, and really enjoyed it. Having 4 meals included was great too. The dinner at the Skylon Tower was really nice, and that alone can cost around $100, so to have that thrown in free was nice. The dinner at Mr. Coco's was also very good as well.

The website to check out the package is http://www.holidayinn.com/package_blowout.htm

They also have a link on that page to check out the dinner menus.

Hope this helps!

I just booked in the Renaissance falls view for our Anniversary in February... I paid $40 for the night with priceline!!! it is a 4 star and the reviews on the trip advisor. com are all very great.. looks good to me.

here is a link to the hotel www.renaissancefallsview.com

We plan on crossing over and going to the outlet stores in Buffalo and spending time at the Casino this trip is about getting away from the kids for a few days not about Romance wifes words not mine LOL. I would prefer to be centrally located we like PH and HRC and RFC for meals and do not like Kelseys and TGIFrdays. Hope that is of some help. This trip will be a mid week trip the wife works every weekend. Thank you everyone for the replies so far we are looking at the packages offered currently and they look pretty good. We want a hotel with indoor pool and hot tub. We considered going to Collingwood as we love it there but my wife just couldn't justify 275.00 for 2 nights accomodations plus meals etc LOL.

The Renaissance is a good hotel. The Hilton has a great indoor pool with slide etc. The new Fallsview Casino hotel is great. Stayed there for a couple of nights and wonderful view of the Falls. If you have a Player's card from the casino we got rooms for $99 a night and we only bet quarter machines and not often in Niagara.
The Brock is good and you can walk to Clifton Hill and the Hard Rock as well as Planet Hollywood are close but very pricey. The Rainforest Cafe is at the corner of Clifton Hill and Falls Avenue (right by the Brock).
The Oaks Inn is a good choice. Just so you know the Holiday In by The Falls is NOT associated with the Holiday Inn chain. It actually had the name before the chain, and in a resulting lawsuit they have exclusive use to the name in Niagara Falls (Canadian side only) and that is why you won't find a Holiday Inn (chain) in Niagara Falls. They have done alot of renovations recently. If you check the Toronto Sun and Star on weekends there are tons of specials for the Falls.
Lived there for 30 years so familiar with most of these places but since the new casino there are lots of new choices and you can do well.
There is a huge Factory outlet in Niagara Falls NY which is much closer than going to Buffalo. It is on Military Road.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Thanks Gumbo as a kid I went to NFNY for hockey tournaments and we always went to a very large outlet mall that had a polo outlet a Nike outlet and a BASS shoes outlet to name a few stores I just couldn't remember where it was thanks. I will have to get myself a weekend Star and check out the deals thanks for all the help everyone.

Yep the one you're talking about with the Bass, Nike etc is the one on Military Road. There is a Target around the corner on Niagara Falls Blvd, with a Tops International also. Sam's Club just around the corner too.

Cheers,
Grumbo

Thanks again Grumbo your help has been much appreciated our time is now going to be split between 1 day at the outlets and 1 day in the casino.
