Not a question about WDW, but this site is so helpful with a variety of topics, thought I'd pitch it here.

Taking the family on a long weekend to New York City, and staying across the river in Jersey City. We'll be across the street from a PATH station, and wondering the best way to use PATH and then NYC subway system to get to Time Square, Central Park, and Lower East Side. Any help/thoughts would be appreciated!:thumbsup2

I used this web-site to figure out ahead of time which trains and/or buses to take. You just type in your starting address and your ending address (or point of interest) and it gives you the details. I had never been to NYC before and it saved us a LOT of time. We didn't have to stop and look at maps.

If you have an iphone or blackberry, you can get the hotstop app..Last Christmas we took the subway all around NYC using hotstop app on my iphone.

I would use the link the pp just recommended, but for a quick quide -

Times Square - I would get off the Path at 33rd st and walk straight up Broadway. I think it will take you as much time to find the train to transfer to and wait for it, the walk is quick.

Central Park - I would get off the Path at 33rd st and transfer to the N or the R (UPTOWN), take it to the 5th Avenue stop. You're outside the park, at a good spot to enter if you plan to go to the zoo. FAO is also there.

Lower East Side - Hmm, where exactly, that's pretty broad. You can get off the Path at an earlier stop like 9th street depending on what your plans are.

Have fun!

Thanks everyone for the helpful tips! My lower east side location is actually Katz Deli on East Houston Street. I can taste the pastrami now!!

My husband downloaded an app for his iphone and we never had a problem with the trains. It was great!!
