Whilst I am earnestly hoping to be able to secure a berth at the Princess character breakfast I also realise thats its somewhat of a lottery and am looking for Plan B.
Do Universal run a similar theme (scooby doo for example) and if so where, when, how etc etc

Hi

I'm not 100% certain, but I don't think Universal do anymore. We went to one a few years back now - before IOA was opened.

If I recall it was quite reasonable (price) food was OK and the characters I can remember were Scooby, Fred Flintstone and Woody Woodpecker. As part of the breakfast we were all give 2 'front of the line passes' to Back to the future' and I think ET.

I'm not sure why it stopped - unless I am totally wrong and it is still going. We got our tickets at a Welcome meet - I think with Travel City, but I can't recall seeing a similar offerring in any 'welcome stuff' in recent years

I think Maxine's right - there are no longer any character meals in the parks, but they do have them at the Universal hotels (Royal Pacific, Hard Rock and Portofino Bay) and they're not restricted to resort guests. Woody Woodpecker, Scooby Doo and maybe a couple of others.

Try posting your question on the Universal Studios forum.

it's a couple of years since we went, but they had a meal at circus mcgurcus that was quite good- it's just a standard counter service restaurants, but there is a stage in the middle and some characters do a show and then they do autographs afterwards.
It was Cat in the Hat, Thing 1/Thing 2 and The Grinch I think.
