are there any disney brides that are not DFTW that did the dessert party? How does that go about being set up and what is the process?

Teresa

I've done two dessert parties not associated with a Disney's Fairy Tale Wedding and have written up a complete tutorial on the process here:

http://disneytravelbabble.com/how-to/private-party/

The only thing you might run into that we did not (because ours were anniversary events) is that brides are not allowed to wear their gowns inside the park if their event wasn't planned through Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings.

I am currently planning a currently planning a dessert party for after our Shades of Green wedding. You can PM with any questions :goodvibes

We're having our dessert party this weekend. Yeah, you can't wear formal attire into the park unless it's part of a DFTW package (total bummer). But, it's more about the fun and family and friends than what we're wearing.

Thinking about some sort of post-wedding shoot w/our photographer on Disney grounds (like Swalphin/Boardwalk area...esp. on that bridge with Illuminations going in the backroung). I believe that is ok to do (in wedding attire).

So if I plan a lunch or dessert party through my DFTW planner, I can wear my gown in the park? We are thinking a nice lunch at Le Cellier since there are so few of us (like 12).

People do dessert parties all the time that have nothing to do with weddings.

Good luck!!!! :)

You can still wear your dress if you do a dessert party @ the GF in the marina or sago cay, just not epcot. But good luck working with Disney catered events. They never got back to me and I finally gave up!

they got back with me and I talked to my person today. Catered events is re-working their contract and they will get it to me once they get that done but until then she has the marina on hold for a wishes dessert party on my wedding day. She said that the only way someone can take that is if they go through her and that is just not happening it is on hold for me.

Hooray!

Yes, you can wear your gown in the park if you arrange your lunch or DP through DFTW, but just remember that if you are an Escape bride and add any catered events through your planner, you will trigger the dreaded $7500.00 minimum spend.

...However DFTW cannot book private events at Le Cellier, which means you'd need to make a regular dining reservation,so you would not be able to wear your wedding dress. In order to wear the dress you need to be having a private event and either transported in through backstage or escorted in by an event guide.

So what if I am not a DFTW bride, but have a private event and get transported backstage?

That blog was very helpful! Can you wear your dress if you do a memory wedding and then plan a private dessert party just like that?

Memories weddings can't add on private events through Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings, so you would need to go through Disney Catered Events, which means no dress. However, I would talk to your Memories event planner about it and see if they could work something out for you, dress-wise, since you are paying to have a DFTW. :thumbsup2
