Non-carousel pics during MK bridal shoot

Hello! I know people have requested a different location other than the carousel, such as the Haunted Mansion, for the MK bridal shoot. I was wondering if this is something you request in advance, or if you can just ask the photographer to do that day?

And if you did have some non-carousel pics, where were they, and do you have some examples?

Thanks! :goodvibes

You should prolly request it in advance. I just phoned up Disney Photographic and told them I wanted to do shots on Main Street instead of the carousel, and they were very accommodating (they warned me that there will be lots of workers on Main Street, so it might be hard to get good shots).

One girl had hers on the Peoplemover! Another had hers in front of Pirates of the Caribbean. And I've seen some Haunted Mansion shots, but they weren't allowed to get very close to the Mansion, so... something to consider.

:goodvibes

We ask the photographer on the car ride over not to take pics on the carosel. Instead we went to the train station and they came out great. Sorry I don't know the ling to the MK Photoshoot. but the if you can find it the login is (I think) lomonaco-schmidt password : 1971

We've requested Main Street USA as well! I'm glad we're not the only ones. Maybe we will actually get them. When we spoke to Rosie (the Escape weddings photography contact) her only issue with the Haunted Mansion and Main Street was lighting. But we are getting married in December so it certainly could be an issue. The carousel pictures don't really interest us because it's just not "us." DF loves Main Street USA and I love the HM.

Definitely request a different location in advance. We tried on the day of our shoot, and the photographer wouldn't do it.

JackieSparrow, please contact Disney in advance of your photo shoot. That is the best way to handle it. If any of the venues that you are requesting are off-limits, you will be informed of this during your phone call. Of course, if something happens on the day of your photo shoot (for example, repair work is going on and scaffolding is set up at a particular location), your photographer may not be able to get the shots that you want. Please remember that a request is simply a request, but Disney will do their best to try to honor it.

Here is a link to a few of my MK photos: click here. I was fortunate to get a Haunted Mansion shot. But we were EATEN ALIVE BY MOSQUITOES! It was horrible (but for me, well worth it). ;)

I had mine on Main Street and some in Toontown fair as we had a little extra time!

Check out the link in my signature my pics should be in there somewhere!

Janet - I looked at your MK photo shoot pix and one of them looks like it is in an inside location - is it the HM or PotC? I think if we could get shots inside one of those two rides it would be more worth it to me.

it says your photos are no longer available. :(

Lisacope, this photo -- click here -- was actually taken in what I believe is called "Fairytale Gardens" inside Fantasyland. The following link (official WDW website) may clue you in to this area's location: click here.

I didn't request that location. Our Disney photographer simply stopped the van there and told us to hop out for a quick photo. It turned out nicely.

That is a very cool picture! Your pix are making me lean toward doing the photo shoot - I am really not excited about the pix on the carousel - I like the idea of doing some different backgrounds.

I had asked Tanis three weeks ago about swapping out the carousel for HM.
She got back to me the next day and said it was fine, and there is even a little note on our B.E.O about us not wanting the carousel, HM instead.

We were going to wait til the morning of and ask our photographer, but DF was pretty amped about the possibility of having HM wedding photos, so I figured I'd better cover all bases and ask our planner about it. I'm glad I did.

TinkerFairy, it sounds like you've got your bases covered. Good going. Nothing helps Disney more than being told exactly what you want & don't want in advance. I'm sure they appreciated it.

As to the Haunted Mansion, be prepared to hold EXTREMELY STILL for quite a while. Your photographer will tell you when you can breathe / move, have no fear! I think we had to hold still longer at the Haunted Mansion than anywhere else we were that morning. There is no light in that location to help the photographer out. This means that he/she has to leave the shutter open longer than usual and thus any movement on your part will blur the photo.

Also be prepared for bugs. They love that venue since it sits right on the water. Ouch! We were bit quite a bit but thankfully not on our faces. Since we had our photos taken the day before our FTW, that could have been disastrous!

Lisacope, I didn't really want the carousel photos but I do love the one of my husband and his trusty steed: click here. That photo made the carousel worthwhile.

The "Fairytale Gardens" shot was a surprise: click here. And as I was setting some more of my on-line photos to "public" status just the other day, I stumbled into another photo that was taken in that venue: click here. That last photo was taken the year before my FTW photo was taken. It was during my 19th wedding anniversary trip and we had attended the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party one evening. I just love anything that reminds me of synchronicity. ;)

Thanks for the heads up on the bugs:scared1:
We're doing our photos the morning of the wedding, so hopefully if we get any bites, they show up anytime after 11a.m:rotfl:

I had no idea about the lighting issues over there, guess if there's a little buggy chewing my arm I'd better not twitch!
I wish they'd let you get a wee bit closer to the mansion itself, but if having it as a backdrop makes DF happy, I'm all for it. As soon as I showed him another couple that had photos there he was SOLD on Disney.
"Nevermind the castle, we can take pictures at the mansion! Let's do it!!"
:confused3

TinkerFairy, yes, the bugs were quite a surprise to both my husband & I. Our Disney photographer warned us, and when he did, I thought he was exaggerating. Well, when we got to the Haunted Mansion and the bugs immediately began feeding upon our flesh, I knew exactly why he had warned us. He wasn't kidding about the bugs being bad.

Our MK photo session was at the end of October. I don't know if the bugs are bad year-round. Hopefully, for your session, things won't be so bad. But I would consider wearing bug spray, just in case.

I had no idea about the lighting issues over there...

Last year I met with another CM who is very familiar with photography inside the theme parks. She kinda filled me in on what venues have lighting issues. The Haunted Mansion was definitely one of them (and that had been my experience too).

I have more photos than what is posted in my on-line album. I'll see if I can dig up another Haunted Mansion photo so that you can see how the lighting affects the photos. I'll post as soon as I've uploaded anything.

Your significant other has good taste. I really (really, really) wanted a photo in front of the Haunted Mansion.

Thanks for the info - we definitely want train station pics, since that's where he proposed during Wishes! So, we will request these instead of the carousel. I am so excited to hear this is a possibility!

TinkerFairy, I have uploaded two more Haunted Mansion photos into my on-line photo album (there are now three of them in there). I'll post the links below:

HM Photo # 1
HM Photo # 2
HM Photo # 3

In each of the photos, the photographer adjusted how long he kept the shutter open. You can tell this by the different colors in the (very!) early morning sky (the photos were taken before sunrise).

I hope this helped.
