Non-buffet favorites for families with 10-14 year olds?

my son will be 10 on our next trip in january 2019 and I had gastric sleeve surgery and can't eat much, so we had to sit down and have a talk about trying to keep food costs under control a bit while we're there on our next trip.

He watched tons of reviews on youtube and here is the list of places he is interested in now:

HS: Sci Fi*, 50's Prime Time*
MK: Plaza Restaurant, Liberty Tree Lunch
Epcot: Via Napoli
AK: no TS is a super bargain that we're interested in, but we'll probably do TH breakfast as a splurge
Resorts: Beaches and Cream, Trail's end Brunch, Sanaa*

he is super psyched about trying the ones he hasn't... * in front of the ones he has. We'll still do a few character breakfasts as they are a bit cheaper than the dinners and I prefer the food. It's only about $10 more between kids and adult prices so it doesn't hurt as much.

50's Prime Time for sure. It always looks like my son has basically licked his plate clean because he loves this place so much. It's strange because the menu never sounds very appealing to us - we don't eat that kind of food at home but we have always LOVED everything we have ordered and it is such a fun restaurant. On our trip in June we had our best experience there EVER! All of the CM were totally into it in the room we were in and all of the guests were having a blast.

Thanks so much for all of this great input! Exactly what I was looking for. Love all of the shout-outs for Sci Fi - we went there 5 years ago and had so much fun, it's definitely on the list for this trip. From all of the suggestions (and a few from past trips), I've made this preliminary list (we won't eat all of these, just compiling options!):
'Ohana
Sci Fi (top choice!!)
50's Prime Time
Sanaa
Yak and Yeti (though we've been so may not repeat this one)
Coral Reef
Beaches and Cream (definitely given our stay at Yacht Club!)
Skipper Canteen (definite! menu sounds great for all my kids and us!)
Tokyo Dining
Rose and Crown
Via Napoli
BOG (on the list because I've been wanting to see it, but I see many negative reviews of it, so not sure we will go - we have a breakfast ADR for 8:25 on Mother's Day, but looks like it's during a special event - Magic Morning - so probably bad idea)

other maybes, but probably next tier of our list (either because of traveling to a resort or because we have too many Epcot already!):
GF Café
Kona Café
Restaurant Marrakesh
Spice Road
WCC
Liberty Tree (been here, fine but want to explore)
Plaza
TRex (don't want to trek to Disney Springs just to eat though)
Rainforest Café in AK (went 5 years ago, kids loved it but we thought food was only ok)

My 11 year old loves California Grill and Narcoossee's (she's fancy) but her more affordable favorite is Yak & Yeti! Definitely a must do for our family...

I have an extremely picky 12yo and a somewhat picky 16yo. We are doing a breakfast at Kona Cafe and a dinner at Grand Floridian Cafe.

Also on our list is Beaches and Cream, both kids love it there.

I have a 7 and 11 year old - our family favorites (not in any order) for ala Carte menus are:

Sci Fi (milk shakes/burgers/fries)
via Napoli (salads and pizzas are shareable)
Nine Dragons (family style Chinese food)
Beaches and Creme (we actually have ice cream as a meal!$
Plaza (sandwiches with a view!)

Nine Dragons is great for sampling different items and family sharing and we also love that it’s FAST and we can almost always get a prime time reservation there. The honey sesame chicken, chicken dumplings, and friend rice are family faves!
