after going to disney on a budget everytime we've gone ( except for our honeymoon)

as I'm planing this upcoming trip..... I keep finding my self saying things to myself like...."I don't care what the limo cost we are booking one to the train" and " if I don't feel like waiting for the disney busses I'm hoping a \taxi back to the resort I'm on vacation darn it.... etc etc etc....

Now I'm a " pinch a penny until it screams kind of girl"....but this vacation I do not want to worry about anything just want to enjoy ourselves...... I blame the " free disney dinning" for this change in me....

Honestly? I would skip the limo and rent a "expensive" car for the day. It costs less and can be just as fun. If you would like an all expenses, go crazy kind of vacation I would start buying gift cards and putting $ on them. I like to scrimp in my daily life so I can afford to have a nice time on vacation. BUT don't let free dining carry you away! If you want to feel crazy and still have a awesome time, try taking 1 1/2 times more then you have in the past (as long as you can afford it, and it doesn't go on credit cards) or even doubling your budget for one or two special extras- you can feel like you had the most expensive awesome trip ever but still be able to afford real world outside the World:thumbsup2

Theres nothing wrong with spending your money on little luxuriies when you have the money to spend. You earned it and you have a right to enjoy what it buys. Ive splurged on limos instead of shuttles. And Ive taken magical express when Im on a budget. Sometimes you have to let the pursestrings loose and pamper yourself.

NONbudget Disney is all I know! :rotfl:

I would definitely skip the limo and use that money to book one night of a Premium package....3 squares, 2 snacks, La Nouba, tours, recreation...all for $165 per person per night.

We - two of us-are booked at POP one night and since we always share one meal, the meals will cover us for 2 days. DH is doing the WS Segway tour and we're doing Behind the Seeds the 2nd day. Eating at Cali Grill, Brown Derby, Fulton's, the Yachtsman--all for 1TS credit not 2.

I think this idea is the best thing since sliced bread.

hmmm... what a naughty thing you have planted inside my head....;)

How many are going? Consider a Town Car, much cheaper than a limo and still a nice ride!

I actually have the vacation money all saved already so it would not go on credit cards.... I even have spending money put aside for each of my 3 kids ... so they can buy whatever they want.....

we are a family of 5.... not a lot of choices in my small town ... but I will call around and see whats available

Funny thing about a limo, we took one from the airport to Disneyland a few years ago and to this day that is what my kids talk about the most :lmao:.

My kids planned Father's Day a few years ago, a steak restaurant and a limo ride. They were in HEAVEN. Keep the limo. Its so "been there done that" when you are 40 (unless you haven't), but for kids....

I would put La Nouba on my list of "non-budget" Disney activities. Its definately "worth" a splurge at least once. Especially if your kids are old enough to sit through it. (I wouldn't take little kids who have to go "potty" at inopportune moments - its too expensive and spectacular to miss because your three year old needs to visit every public bathroom in Disney).

You said you already have the money saved so, technically, you do have a budget. ;) It is just more than you are used to. So, go, enjoy and have a blast! If the limo is still within the money you saved than why not?? I've been trying to figure out how to fit one in myself to/from Logan but it is $200 each way. Just can't justify that one.

Yup, its fun to do once!

We did that for Dd's birthday trip. Took a limo instead of Magical Express to the resort and then back to the airport. That seemed to impress her more than the trip to Disney. It was something I added as a surprise for the trip that even Dh didnt know about and the whole trip was a surprise for Dd.

I just want to say be careful! All of those little additional luxuries add up quickly. We did a pretty major blow out trip this past May - 10 days at the GF Sugarloaf Concierge with a lot of bells and whistles. I started adding this and then adding that -- here and there. While we had an amazing time there have been periods over the past 4 months where I would have killed to be able to have some of the money back to use towards unexpected expenses that have arose since then.

It is fun to do. I had a blast and so did my hubby and kids. But when we came home and added everything up I literally got sick to my stomach. I still cringe every payday when I am pinching pennies now when I think about how much money we spent on that one trip. That one non-budget trip cost us more than what most people spend on 2 or 3 trips.

Edited to add: Traveling with the luxuries once also makes it really hard to go without them again in the future. My hubby is now saying that the only way he will ever go back to WDW for a family vacation (with the kids) is if we stay concierge again. Well I don't think we are going to be able to swing concierge again anytime soon even with another 40% discount.
