Non-American dining at DLP

My wife and I are going to be at DLP starting next Sunday (10/16) for three nights staying at the Sequoia Lodge. I'm are real Disney fanatic and know the Disneyland Resort (California) like the back of my hand and have been to WDW many times. However, this will be our first visit to DLP or any Disney park outside of the US.

Looking at the restaurants, it seems that many are American food. I realize that in France eating American is new and different, but I don't see the point of traveling to Europe to eat the same stuff available all around me. We live in the West (Utah) and so BBQ, rodeos, steak, and ribs are what we get when we go out here.

What restaurants would you recommend that aren't "American"? I've only made one reservation at the Blue Lagoon since I have to see how that compares to the Blue Bayou at DLR.

I couldn't agree with you more when we were in Italy earlier this year I overheard the people next to me planning to eat at the Hard Rock and McDonalds OK I suppose I could forgive them the Hard Rock if there's not one near where they live but McDonalds???



How about Agrabah Cafe - it's a Mediterranean/middle Eastern buffet and the setting is fantastic, straight out of Arabian Nights.

Also do consider Walt's. I know it's official name is Walt's - An American Restaurant but it offers international fare and there is a lovely array of memorabilia on display. It's my favourite restaurant.

Auberge de Cendrillon offers traditional French food and is a beautiful restaurant but it's a Princess character meal so quite expensive if you're not interested in a character meal.

King Ludwig's in the Village offers German cuisine (although our German DISers may not agree I'm not sure how authentic it is), but we've eaten here a couple of times and the food is lovely.

I can't recommend any restaurants yet, we are going in Nov. But just wanted to give you a heads up if you have never been to Europe before. I am American too, but have been living in Germany for the last 2 years. Even though it might be "American" food, it is still going to taste different.

The Europeans have different standards on food additives than in the US so things taste differently here...sometimes more bland. Also if you do order a steak, from our experience, unless you order it MW or Well done it will practically be raw on the inside. Also Europeans butcher their meat differently than we do in the US. A popular but cheap cut of steak is a rumpsteak, the best way I can describe it is like they cut a steak from a roast. Typically they have quite a bit of fat and gristle and aren't tender. If you want a good steak look for the filet cut which is more like a standard American cut.
