I am about to embark on a mother-daughter trip with my 9 year old daughter. I would love to grab lunch at the Nomad lounge (not interested in Tiffins), but there's nothing on the menu that would appeal to my daughter. So I am soliciting opinions: would it be terrible to grab some chicken tenders at Restaurantasaurous and bring them with us? Normally I would not bring outside food to an establishment, but considering it in this case. I understand this topic could be divisive--really looking to keep this a friendly discussion :)

With a 9 nine old, I wouldn't worry about bringing outside food inside. The Nomad lounge is excellent place for drinks, try and get one on those cushioned seating areas located on the outside deck.

IMO, this is something I would not do. Baby food for an infant/toddler is one thing. Chicken nuggets for a 9yo is another. I would either skip it or consider it a good opportunity for her to try something new at a price point (~$10) that shouldn't be too painful if she doesn't care for whatever she chooses.

The kids drinks at Nomad are SO delicious!! I would really consider having your daughter eat beforehand and then head over to Nomad for your lunch and some drinks (or vice versa - maybe try Nomad first and if she really doesn't like the food, head over to a QS for something else for her). Personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable bringing outside food in, but that's just me.

We are planning on eating there. We have been there before. I am hoping that we get our "usual" waitress. She has the same name as DS. DS11 is really picky. He won't eat anything there, so I was thinking of picking up something at Pizzafari. We will probably get him one of the Nomad non-alcoholic drinks though. I figure DH and I will spend enough money of food and drinks there, that the server shouldn't mind us bringing pizza for the picky one. It's a lounge. It's not like you are bringing the nuggets into Tiffins. Plus, it's Disney, a place for everyone, including picky eating kids. I don't think it would be tacky or be a problem. Tacky would be to ask the server to bring your child chicken nuggets when the place doesn't offer them.

I personally would be ok with bringing in chicken tenders and ordering her a cool drink there. It may be a bit difficult to keep the chicken warm and carry it in a fast food tray but if she is good with that, I say it is fine.

I would be inclined to order some things I think my daughter may like and then get her something else after if she didn't, but she loved to cook and isn't afraid to try food. If you don't think your daughter will try new food, I would sit outside. Try to be discreet, order her a frou frou non alcoholic beverage, and encourage her to try the food there too, using the nuggets as a back up option. I love the Nomad Lounge and can't wait to go back.

I would not. I would either feed her before hand and then just get a fun drink for her there, or I would encourage her to try something new with the food there. I know we are eyeing it up and my kids will go with the pork ribs and the chicken wings. Maybe share the meat and cheese boards....

If it were me, I'd get the kid her food first and then go to the lounge. I've done this many times at Disneyland with my kids. Feed them first, then get them a fun drink or dessert where I want to eat. My kids eat fast.

Follow-up Post: We had dinner at Yak & Yeti, then stopped by Nomad lounge for a drink. We got a seat outside overlooking the Pandora bridge. My daughter loved Nomad Lounge and wanted to know if there were places similar to it in the other parks (lol). We were relaxing and enjoying the scenery when my daughter said "Hey--I think that's Joe Rhode!" And it was! He was walking along the bridge. We called to him and he came over, said hello, and shook our hands. So all's well that ends well :) While I didn't bring outside food in, after experiencing the place, I would feel comfortable bringing something small in for a picky eater--as long as the rest of the table is ordering a sufficient amount of drinks/food.

It's a very cool, beautiful, and chill place. I love the outside, even when it's hot out. It's most beautiful at night though. We will be bringing our picky eater in August. I was thinking Pizzafari is close enough to get him something to either eat quickly or bring over. I know that DH and I would be ordering enough food and drink to not be an issue. So cool that you got to talk with Joe Rhode!
