Man-- I lived in the Chalmette area, which is [was] southeast of New Orleans. Totally flooded. 12 Feet of water. Politicians are saying that it would be pointless to rebuild, because it is all below sea level.
Ha. Yeah, just make everyone that was kin to the area just uproot &move? It really isn't that easy for so many people.
Especially for those who have no idea where half of their family is. My father stayed behind to weather the storm... &I have not heard from him since last Sunday.
Hearing about the horrendous looting, &killing during such a dire time... makes me feel somewhat hopeless.
It's very disgusting to hear that people are shooting at their rescuers! Why even bother saving them! Burning buildings... It's truely got out of hand.
&Finally, Bush makes land fall &surveys that area... Finally. Finally convoys of food are arriving, and the Army is beginning to hold the city down. Establish some order.
Stressful.
BUT. People have been extremely nice. Very giving &sympathetic. Thank God for that.
What is funny though is that New Orleans' mayor Ray Nagin is on the brink to cursing out the government! Barely making it with "frickin'" &words of the like.
Boy oh boy.
Life will go on I'm sure.
People will just have to make the best of what they have, &be thankful that they have shelter &their families.
We just have to stick together.
