Noisy Neighbors?

I moved into a new apartment in December. It is a new construction complex so a lot of the apartments are just now being filled. I didn't think that there was anyone living next to me. That is until last night at midnight when I was awoken by their very loud tv. I didn't see anyone move in over the weekend so I was very surprised. The tv was so loud that I could hear every word. Unfortunately, it was mostly profanity which made a bad situation worse. The noise finally stopped around 3am. This is obviously a problem since I am up at 6am to go to work. I am going to call the management company when they open to see if there is anything they can do. The community does have quiet hours between 10pm and 8am. I guess I can be optimistic that they can notify the tentant about the rules and problem solved. I live by myself so I am not thrilled with going over there to ask the person to turn it down. Certainly not in the middle of the night. If the situation keeps up there is no way I am going to be able to live there. I hear other noises all the time like the person above me walking around and it doesn't bother me at all but last night was bad. Any suggestions about what can be done in this situation? Thanks!!!

Just complain to the management office.
Could be they were trying to drown out other noises going on in the apartment.

The walls in my condo are paper thin. We run a fan at night and it drowns out a lot of noises that we have no desire to hear.

We had a problem with the neighbors music being loud a couple weeks after we moved in. Dh had to go over to ask them to turn it down and there was a bit of a confrontation with one of the guys but mostly because he was drunk. The other guys were quite respectful.

I'd recommend saying hello when you see them and mention that the tv was quite loud but because of the late hour you didn't feel comfortable going over there. If it happens again, contact the office.

I would talk to the management people or ask him to turn it down. Your neighbor might just not have realized how loud it really was for you as well. Some people don't realize they are in a apartment so everything is easier to hear.

Although some times there is nothing you can do my boyfriend used to live in a apartment with the loudest upstairs neighbor I have ever heard. He would stomp when he walked so loud and hard that the light on the ceiling in my boyfriends apartment almost fell down it was practically out of the ceiling. He would also yell crap at us in spanish and randomly take our pictures when we walked out to the parking lot. It was beyond creepy. Apparently he was doing that to everyone though who lived in the complex. The complex did kick him out but that was a few months later and after numerous complaints. Although he was kicked out a week before my boyfriend moved into his house so it really didn't matter to us all that much.

Hopefully you can fix the situation with your neighbor!

I have the loudest upstairs neighbor. Well it's not so much the guy living there it's his goof-ball girlfriend. I cannot believe she stomps like she does. Then this morning, she must've been late for work because she started running. I'm thinking doesn't she realize that there are people living down here and we can hear her boom-boom-boom up and down the hall. It's so annoying.

Thanks for all the support! Apparently the person has been living next to me for over a month. This is the first time I have heard anything so I guess that is good. The management company made a note of my complaint. Hopefully things will be better. Now the person upstairs is a different story but I am not sure what I can do about that. I can hear them get a shower every night at 10pm. I can even here when they drop the soap. Way too much information for me!! I guess that is just the joys of apartment living. :teeth:

I live in a townhouse and have neighbors on both sides of me. The right side I can't hear a thing because that wall is concrete. The left side is another story. I can hear their TV, their shower, their washing, them flicking the light switch on their stairs, them going up the stairs, her phone conversations in the bathroom and I can even hear the toilet paper coming off the roll!!! They aren't loud, the wall is just really thin. I wouldn't dream of complaining about them because it's really not their fault the wall is thin.
