Noisy Cat 3 and concierge question

I remember reading in one of the posts here ( but now I can't find it), that someone experienced a noisy cat 3 room. We (DW and DS8) are in a cat 3 for the 9/1 sailing on the Wonder. Anyone know which cat3's could be noisy?

Also, other than the standard concierge services, do they do anything out of the ordinary?

Thanks.

I inquired about this some time ago. Most people said they occasionally heard noise from above, but they were never disturbed by it. However...

8034
is underneath the Goofy pool and is very loud on the night they have the deck party.

8080
I received a report of distracting noise.

8586
One poster said the noise was horrible at this location but another poster said they had no problem with the noise.

Hi outahere, and welcome to the Cruise Board! :)

I'm the one who stayed in 8034, under the Goofy Pool, and it was VERY loud below the night of the deck party. Other times you could here people above you but it wasn't anything terrible.

Concierge service includes (this is straight from DCL):

* Dedicated check-in desk in the terminal
* Guests can meet with the concierge staff on embarkation day for individualized itinerary planning (e.g. arrange spa treatments, Palo reservations, shore excursions, etc.)
* Guests are entitled to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner in their room with the same menu selections as in the restaurants (arrangements are made in advance with the concierge)
* On one night of the cruise, guests receive a complimentary sweet such as petit fours.
* Selection of CDs/videos for players located in the stateroom
* Concierge reception

Category 1 royal suite guests receive a bouquet of fresh flowers in addition to the amenities shared by other suite guests.

Hope that helps! :)

Thanks for the info. We are in 8048 so, looking at the deck plans, we should expect noise as well. Oh well....... if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Guess we'll be partying that night. Hopefully it will quiet down when it ends at midnight. Need all my rest for CC the next day.

By the way......... this board is FANTASTIC !!!!! I wish I had found it months ago.

Does this mean that the concierge guests don't have to do the mad rush for reservations?

Willowind, that's correct! :) The concierge will take care of it all for you at that meeting.

The only thing I would advise is that you have any shore excursions you want to do you book this in ADVANCE, as everyone is able to do that once your final payment is made and it's 60 days or less until your cruise.

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc That is *so* cool!
We're staying in a category 4 room, but because of our Vow Renewal we'll have concierge service. Okay... I'm happy now!!

I had been reading about the dash for reservations and wondering how we would ever survive. My hubby doesn't "wrangle" the kids well and I knew we were going to have to split up to get booked into everything. This just made my life *so* much easier.

we were under the band stage and had no problem....
you do hear occasional noise during the night, but i was the only one woken by it...
my light-as-a-feather sleeping daughter (whose trip reports are now on the trip report board) was never bothered....

as for concierge services.....there really aren't that many special services....the cocktail party with the captain and senior crew was very nice....they were very charming and interesting to talk to....

but despite the lack of special services, i would stay in a cat 3 again as the room is gorgeous....(especially the bathrooms!!)

The only caveat -- Concierge is only given a select number of days and times and these may not necessarily be the day/time you want. Since Concierge guests board right after disabled there really is no need to do the ressie scramble. We found it easier to make our own ressies. HTH

We were in 8100 (cat 3)...wasn't noisy at all. This room is aft under Topsiders. We heard the faint and occasional chair adjustment and people moving around a little. But...hey...who sleeps much on the cruise anyway. If you plan on sleeping late or getting to bed on the early side, it might be an issue. Otherwise, I don't think so.

I though the extra service was great. The reservation thing was nice for registering the kids for the Oceaneers Club/Lab or making any reservations. We also did a few others with the concierge staff. But, for the important one's...Palo, Spa...we did our own. We boarded as early as they would let us and reservations were not an issue. The room service full menu meals were great, especially for breakfast. The constant checking to see if things were OK was great. We enjoyed the Concierge reception...more free drinks! All in all, it was great. Let's not forget, the bigger room was fantastic!!

We'll be in a cat 3 in October (#8102).

When does the concierge reception take place? In fact, WHERE does it take place? :)

I think I will get my family situated at the buffet when we board and then go immediately to Palo to make our ressies, but I figured I'd make all other ressies through concierge. I also look forward to the captain's cocktail party - when do they do that?

The concierge reservation thing was mid afternoon. I seem to remember 1:30 or 2:00 but that is a guess. It was before the lifeboat drill. It was held in Sessions and they even served cookies!

The receprion was later in the week (can't remember exactly which day) and we on Deck 10, outside. Very nice! Drinks and appetizers.

Beano, this is the current info:

Disney Wonder

* Reception occurs each voyage from 5:15 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Cadillac Lounge
* 3 Day cruise - Nassau Day
* 4 Day (Freeport Cruise) - Freeport Day
* 4 Day (Sea Day) - Sea Day
* Guests are offered complimentary drinks from the bar. Hot & cold canapés are served plus items for the kids.
* Cadillac Lounge piano player provides live music
* Senior officers and Concierge team attend the reception
* Invitations are sent out the day prior to the reception. There is a follow-up call on the day of the reception, and reminders at the meet & greet.

Disney Magic

* Concierge party takes place on Deck 10 from 4:45 p.m. - 6 p.m. at Signals (if it's raining as it was for ours they move it to Sessions) and the party is usually on Thursday
* Guests are offered standard canapés with house brand liquor, generally pre-mixed cocktails
* Senior officers and Concierge team attend the reception
* Invitations are delivered Tuesday evening

Thanks Michelle...

Boy, Thursday should be an interesting day!

We have our DIS group gathering in our suite at 2:00 PM. Now, we have the concierge party at 4:45... and we have the early dinner seating! :)

"Hi guys, welcome to our suite and to the DIS gathering... sorry, gotta go to the captain's cocktail party; Hi captain, nice party... sorry gotta go to dinner". ;)

Such a laid back, relaxing vacation!!!!

On our western cruise in June the concierge party was on Sunday.
Also there is a phone number you can cal beforehand to make your Palo reservations (sorry I have misplaced it).

We were able to make reservations for 2 dinners and 2 brunches.

Beano -

This is the phone number for the Concierge that I used last October on our 7 day. I'm not sure if this number still works but here goes:
407-566-7411. I was able to make all my Palo's ressies (dinner & brunch) and to select our dining rotation. Hope this helps.

A word to the wise, just double check those ressies in Palo's. Miscommunications can happen from shore to ship. Have a great cruise.
