Noisey Neighbours

I can see how you'd have to declare complaints from a selling perspective but AFAIK the OP is renting the property so when/if she moves that should be the end of the matter. It shouldn't affect how much deposit she gets back or go on any sort of record for future rentals. Informing future tenants would be the council/landlord's responsibility.

I think the op has bought the flat. I think the noisy neighbour is a council tenant in the same block. That was the situation we were in too.

Hi,

Whilst you are getting this sorted I can highly recommend Ear Soft earplugs - I get mine from ebay for about £6 for 60 (30 pairs) and they are a godsend. I also get some orange ones and alternate between the two types for maximum quietness!

My OH snores like a grizzly with a cold and this is the only way I can get some sleep. Our upstairs neighbour occasionally has her music blasting out at all hours of the night and the ear plugs blocks it out when I'm trying to sleep.

She is nowhere near as bad as she used to be as we complained to the landlord along with the guy who lives underneath her and she was threatened with court action. Quiet as a mouse after that!

In fact, you know what, pm me your address and I'll send you a few pairs to try :thumbsup2

Hello Every one,

thought I would update you all on our neighbour. The council have still not replied to emails letters or calls. Well we have had a new family move in the flat below so their lounge wall is also attached to this noisey neighbours lounge (our flat is actually above and one over we hear it reallly loud theres must be 10 times worse)

So this new family have a 13 month old first I thought more noise but this is perfect of course no one wants loud noise with a baby so this has worked in our advantage they have also complained and for the last 5 nights it has been quiet :D

Thank you for all your kind words

Thats good news Leanne, but keep complaining to the council, find your local councillor and speak to him/her. I know how stressful bad neighbours can be, we had this problem in our last house, and the couple there were aged around 60yrs old! they had music blasting , topless sunbathing in their garden with thongs on  and sex channels on late at night blasting out
good luck and hope hope the peace continues for you and your new neighbours:hug:

Yuk, that's nasty.

It's also worth noting that you need to keep up the complaints. My parents complained about a neighbour's dog that barked all day, every day whilst the owners were out at work. The Environmental health officer said that if there are no complaints within a certain time period, then they assume it's all sorted out.

Hi.

I feel for you! I will tell you my story (it may be some help!). I lived on a council estate and while there were very few problems for many years I then had a young girl move in next door. This girl was only 19 with a small child and happened to be the daughter of the woman who lived behind me. WELL...in she moved and the parties started the first night! All nighters from Monday through Sunday. Unfortunately she also liked to have 'parties' in the bedroom with numerous boys from the estate - her bedroom was next to mine with VERY thin walls. After months of this - and me being signed off work with exhaustion and depression I finally cracked at 3am and shouted at them to shut up! Things only got worse from there on out. My son who was 9 at the time was verbally abused, my car was keyed, tyre slashed and sprayed with paint stripper. Things were thrown at the front door in the middle of the night, the police turned up at all hours. Her baby screamed all the time and was clearly distressed, their response to this was to hurl abuse at the poor thing :scared1:
After 11 months, the council evicted her and i finally thought that this would be the end of it...but no: her mother was still living behind me! Well while shopping in Tesco one day I was assaulted by her mother, while my poor son stood looking on absolutely terrified! Luckily the council were able to remove the neighbour as she violated her tenancy and the mother (due to police involvement for the assault) was also cautioned by the council re. her tenancy.
Needless to say that by this point I had had enough and moved! Luckily I was given a beautiful house in a quiet, private development. So i had the last laugh! I am sure if your neighbour is a council tenant they are under probation, if you keep hounding them (I was on the phone daily at one point), keep a diary, and if needs be get them out in the middle of the night (the guy who came round from the council at 2am was not happy and it made my point), they will sort this individual out!
For now I'm sending big :grouphug: and wish you luck, I know what you are going through and how much a situation like this effects everything in your life!

that is just terrible how horrible me and DF are only 20 and 23 but we have worked very very hard to save and to get to where we are in our jobs to be able to buy a flat and if either of us miss a day off work we litteraly have to worry about paying for a holiday all petrol to get us to work but he doesnt work he can stay up late as he likes and stay in bed as late as he likes the family under neath are out tonight and the TV is on LOUD! can hear it over mine but i have had such a week i am ignoring i think i may have a break down if i think about it
