Noise level?

I should be punished......

ya see, I just NEVER know when to stop....what is WRONG with me???

There is nothing wrong with you, we expect it by now...;)

we put the a/c on and then we don't hear anything...for tent camping though, there is not a lot of noise you need to worry about...it is the quietest campground i have ever been at!

We have been camping at FW for many years. It is rare to have a noise problem from the "neighbors" but it has happened.

One year for a 4 night period, a "family" moved in next to us and got out the Big Wheels, etc. The group got into action about 10:00 at night with a "campfire" and children running around yelling, etc ... it wasn't just drinking. At least two vehicles on the site.

Another year it was during the Easter break and many sites had multiple vehicles on them with 10+ people at each site - sleeping in cars, etc.

[yes, I "told on them" but not much was done]

So, yes, it can happen - but normally like the others said, people tend to go into the parks during the day and are exhausted at night. You will find things get a little more active over the weekends when the locals come in for 2-3 nights. They tend to spend their time at the campground. Once Sunday night rolls around, things empty out and quiet down again.

Tip: Bring along a fan or something for "white noise" ... this has become a staple for all of our camping trips in the event of next door activity while we are trying to sleep!

The fan has helped us greatly. If you end up near a bus stop, or a comfort station, there is going to be noise from equipment and people. I like it in a hotel room too, for the same reason.

I was lucky last year in loop 300, it was very quiet.. with the exception of the dogs next door who barked all day and night.. until I got ticked off and told on them and come to find out that the fort didnt even know that they had dogs on their site. Now I don't know if they left the next day cause they were asked to or by their own free will!! LOL

It's funny...there is "noise" in the evening but it's welcome noise to us. Like other's have said, you'll hear the boat whistle, the water pageant on Bay Lake passing by the Fort, the fireworks from MK exploding over Cinderella's castle etc etc. For us, these are all reminders of where we are and why we are there. I love waking up in the morning and hearing the sound of the boat whistle. Or when we turned in early, we could hear the fireworks over Cindy's castle exploding (which you can also watch from the marina area). I'm so excited to get there and hear these sounds....2 days and we arrive at the Fort!!!

I'm glad you and your dh have decided to experience the Fort..I hope you enjoy it as much as we do!! :goodvibes

I wanna go NOW!! I can't wait till the end of May. This description is the perfect picture in my mind. I told DH that the worst thing that could happen on this trip is that we get addicted to FW and I know that there is no way we'll be even close to getting back there for years! :sad1:

It does sound nice. Thanks all.

When we stayed there last week it was very peaceful and quiet. We were in loop 1600 and I loved it. We did sleep with the fan on most nights, I love the noise from it. I'm defintely wanting to request the same site location for our next trip with the camper. Close to the comfort station and there was a nice little shortcut path to the pool and the 1500 Loop bus-stop.

I'm so bummed out that we missed the water parade. How the hell did I miss reading about that? Man, I thought I'd heard about everything! :rotfl: What a bummer!! Something to look forward to next time!

May???? We have to wait until June!! I'll take the the "Disney" noise over "Chicago" noise any day!

We were in 1501 last March (right behind the bus stop) and I was able to tolerate that noise but what got me was some kid decided to bounce a basketball around the loop a couple of times at around 7:00ish in the morning!

Last October we were in the 2000 loop and the only noise we heard were the Budweiser frogs. We got there right after a bunch of rain and our first night we had a loud chorus going....but I love those kinds of sounds and they were quiet by the end of the week.

We tent camped in April and could clearly hear loud music from MK until 4-5 am for Grad Night. We could also hear what sounded like golf cart drag racing either engine revving take offs or last minute breaking squeeling (sp?) until about 1am (It's rented so let's see what this baby can do!!). The sound of bus breaks is that last sound heard at night and the first sound to wake you up in the morning (learned my lesson, will try further from the bus stop next trip, you'd think an imagineer could come up with a quiter breaking system). I also request no pet loops so barking dogs won't be an issue. The pool is open 24 hours a day and we used it very late and I remember thinking how glad I was not to be camped next to that. I agree with some noise options like a fan or in Dec. a radio. Try taking a mild sleeping pill to knock the edge off so these noises won't wake you.

Rhonda will need to wear leather before Rog will accept the spanking.

Now back on subject. We've used the fan on the A/C before to drown out noise but that was just keep things from possibly waking us up. Last November, we had a kid across the street that would start riding his bike at daylight. The riding wasn't a problem, it was that he had worn the training wheels down to plastic nubs and he was dragging them down the street. Even the fan couldn't drown that out. He came close to being gator bait.

I've never been bothered by noise at FW. Of course, we're in an enclosed camper, which helps. When I'm outside, I can hear bus noise, golf cart noise and for a short time at night I can hear the music from the electrical parade and the fireworks from MK. I've never heard much noise from other campers.

Yea, if you're in an enclosed camper, the most you'll probably hear is maybe some fireworks at night, but they normally don't run very late to begin with.

If you're in a tent, you'll probably be more likely to hear ambient noise, a nice fan blowing sometimes can cancel it out ;)
