Noise level of Boardwalk View rooms?

We are contemplating spending the extra points for the Boardwalk View. For those that have stayed, does a lot of noise filter into the rooms from the Boardwalk and water area with the boats? If it was just the Mrs and myself, no big deal, but trying to minimize the noise level at night for the little princess...

Thanks

We stayed in a studio with the carnival games right below us and we really didn't notice that much noise. We could faintly hear the games going on down below and the occasional boat horn, but to us it became background noise and wasn't a concern for anyone in our family. We had a great view of the boardwalk and the lake and really enjoyed relaxing on the balcony and taking in the sights and sounds of the boardwalk.

I guess it's a matter of personal preference. Our family enjoyed the evening hustle and bustle of the boardwalk and by the time we went to bed, usually after 11pm, the activities on the boardwalk were beginning to die down.

On another note, we absolutely loved staying at BWV and the convenience of the short walk to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios. :cool1:

Whatever you decide I believe that you can't go wrong staying at BWV. Enjoy your upcoming trip!

Speaking from our experience, we probably would not book a BW view again. We were right above a little nook over the clothing store. It was where the magician performed each night. We are early risers, so we were in bed around 9-10. What kept us awake was not the horn, games or music but the applause for the performers.

It was a great experience, the views are incredible, but just not the best for us.

I would ask for a high floor to minimize any noise and improve the view. BTW, I loved my BW view - it prompted me to add on to BWV.

We had a high floor looking over the basketball game. With the door closed we didn't notice too much noise.

my problem was the whistle or horn from those boats. they start at 7:30am I think - might now be 8:00am.

they could wake me up even thru the doors. we were on the 3rd floor. now understand that they have to be loud - probably a state law.

but if you want to stay up for EHM - think it was 3am before we got back to BWV the night before - then you might wear something the next morning to protect your ears.

We've been on the second floor (lobby level) twice and yes, it's noisy IMO. I would be woken by late night people and then by early starting staff moving carts over the boardwalk.

We had a 2 bedroom looking directly at the basketball game. While I thought the view was wonderful, I was very surprised I didn't like it as much as I thought I would. We thought it was very loud and we are a family of older teens, not just the 2 of us. Between the whistles for the games, the 2 am crowd that gets let out from Jellyrolls and Atlantic Dance and the eary morning Friendship Boat horns, it wasn't a relaxing unwinding resort. We own at SSR and stayed there last summer and it was wonderful to get away from it all and walk to DTD if we wanted.

Even though I just complained about the loud noise of the BWV's BW view, I must admit we booked another 2 bedroom for 8 nights end of August/beginnign of September BW View. My ds asked if we could stay there for his 8th grade graduation present. If he didn't request to stay there, I would have tried to stay at BCVs.

I am sure you'll have fun but I would be prepared for the noise.

ohhh, I forgot about that. Also, I forgot about the cleaners that come out about 4 am or so and pressure wash the Boardwalk. I'm a light sleeper and this doesn't help :scared1:

On other nights in hotels in the past, not just to WDW, we have been bothered by doors slamming, loud voices in the hallways, traffic from the highway nearby, etc.

I finally just brought my white noise machine, or "wooshy" as my kids called it, on every trip, and it really makes all the difference. Both my kids ended up getting their own units and bringing them to college. All of their roommates over the years not only didn't mind the "wooshy", but they ended up getting their own for when they went home for vacations or in the summer!

Now we travel with just our iPhones - there are several white noise apps, including the one that I have that has the ability to record any sound. I actually recorded the sound of my at-home unit. All of the apps are either free or less than $3.00.

We will be taking 3 short trips this year as new BWV owners (one trip will be for NYE in a 2 bedroom Boardwalk view!!) I'm sure I would have at least some concern about noise without the white sound app, but I know that we will be fine as long as we are using it.

We loved our Boardwalk View room and would book another in a heartbeat! We were down by Jelly Rolls on the top floor and the view was fantastic! We were able to see a lot of Illuminations. You do hear the boat horn blow, but it didn't bother us that much. It is our new favorite!

We had a one bedroom Boardwalk View this past January. We were all the way down the hall on the third floor. It was the second to last group of rooms so we were down from the games but right next to Jelly Rolls. We had no problem with the noise. It was actually nice in the morning to open the sliders and listen to the "Boardwalk" music that starts around 8:00am. :)

We would love to do this location again in the future. :lovestruc

It was worth the extra points for the short trip - 4 days.

I had a villa overlooking the Village Green, and wasn't really bothered by any of the ambient noise coming from there. The most intrusive thing I heard was the horn from the boats; they seem to blast every 5-10 minutes. That kind of adds to the ambiance as well, but depending on your mood it could possibly get annoying.

It can be noisy on the 2nd or 3rd floor especially if you right above the games. The higher floors are less noisy.

We stayed one floor above the Screen Door. Our room was right above the word Door in fact. We loved it. The noise was not bad at all. We stood on our balcony and watched the magician one night. Great fun. We have booked a BWV room with boardwalk few for the F & W festival and can't wait. Have fun.

We find the noise noticeable but not disturbing....however, the Boardwalk View is not more points than the MAJORITY of rooms in the hotel. Standard View is fewer points. Boardwalk View is 20% of the resort and Standard View is another 20% - preferred view (non-BW) is 60% of the resort for the same points as Boardwalk View - or for that matter, any room at BCV or VWL. Which means that if you don't book early (either because you can't or you don't own) your choice in Boardwalk rooms may be preferred view - non-Boardwalk. I hope it works for you, but depending on when you travel and when you can book, it might be worthwhile to be aware.

Since BWV is not our home resort, we stay there specifically for the boardwalk view! Noise wasn't a problem and we could see the fireworks from illuminations.

I agree. Our 2nd floor room RIGHT next to Jellyrolls was REALLY loud. We were shocked at just how loud! We had stayed on the 5th floor before (in the INN), closer to ESPN and didn't notice a thing. The biggest problems were when Jellyrolls closed with the drunks leaving and the early morning CM's using the BW with their motorized carts. We'd hear them driving up and down all morning.

We stayed in a 1br .....4001, right beside jelly rolls, the week leading into Halloween, food and wine. @ 7 am carts on boardwalk...then the boats. Not a big deal..what's cool is watching illuminations from your balcony!!!! Noise isn't a problem:thumbsup2

The Friendship Boat horns is one of our favorite "noises" in the BW area. You can hear them from many rooms, in the Swan and Dolphin, too.
