Hi! We just got home from a wonderful 2 week WDW Christmas vacation! We stayed at BWV in a 2-bedroom Boardwalk view villa - rooms 5015 & 5017. The view is amazing from 5017 - we loved the large balcony and watched both Illuminations and MVMCP fireworks from it! My question is: To anyone else who has stayed in this villa - did you notice how loud the rooftop air conditioners were right above the rooms? On our first night, I think one of the air conditioner compressors went out and it sounded like a helicopter was landing on the roof above us!!! Needless to say, we were NOT amused! We made several calls down to the front desk, and at 12:30 am, my DH went down personally to complain. There were several other people down there complaining as well. The loud noise stopped around 1:30 am - I'm assuming that they shut that unit down. The next night, it wasn't as loud, but we could still hear the humming of the air conditioners. I don't know if we were just more aware of the noise because of the first night, or if we would have noticed it anyway. We did get used to it by the third night, but it's just a shame that there is a noise level issue in such a great room! We could have tried to move, (doubtful since it was Christmas week!) but we didn't want to give up the awesome view.

Happy New Year!

so sorry this ruined your trip.

but that is what is good about DVC - next time if these rooms are offered you can say 'no'

although I think this is one DVC can fix.

my room problem was the hill and stop sign - buses (not to mention those little golf cart and other things) - racing up the hill to the stop sign.:rotfl: :happytv: :lmao: I was surprise at how loud they were. and how much gas those vehicles are wasting racing to the stop sign.:scared1:  now I know that the buses start at 6:30 am and don't quit until 3:00am....

Again, for anyone with room problems, Do Not Call the Front Desk. You get the Call Center and depending on how busy they are, they are not even located at WDW.

Call Maintenance or Housekeeping directly from the buttons on your room phone, or go the Front Desk in person.

We were in 5011 earlier in December and had no noise problem from the roof at all. What we DID hear was something that sounded like a phone ringing. A lot. We finally figured out it was one of the boardwalk games outside that had a loud sound like a phone. Didn't bother us too much though.

I was in 5013 a few years ago and didn't notice anything.

All was good when we had the rooms..would actually love to have those rooms again!

Thanks for the replies everyone! It's good to know that it was an odd occurrence and not the usual for these rooms. Like I said, it's hard to know if we would have even noticed anything if it weren't for the first night fiasco! There was no mistaking that there was a problem! It woke us up out of a sound sleep! The view is so awesome from these rooms that I'm sure we'll try to stay in them again. Having the Boardwalk view for our Christmas vacation was wonderful!

Happy New Year!
