Noise factor at Pop Century?

Hi! I have heard complaints of paper-thin walls, noise, and sounds of toilets flushing from the All Star resorts. How is the noise factor at Pop Century?

Thanks!
Cara

The worst noise we ever experienced was at the Caribbean Beach Resort. I have no complaints about the noise levels @ Pop.

When in our room, I don't hear those toilets anymore than I do the POR toilets. They sound the same to me. I don't care to get a room with a connecting door, as the noise factor at POR or POP is louder than without.

It's not much to worry about, IMO. You can get a noisy neighbor at any hotel and it'll be a pain (read some of the Polynesian complaints). It's true that it may be inherently more apt to happen at Pop than Beach Club but ultimately it will be the luck of the draw.

I don't think this consideration is even one worth factoring into your decision because ultimately you will have no control over the situation.

Note: We've made well over 200 stays at all resorts.

We were there in Jan last year and it was very noisy even at midnight. I would stay there again but only with earplugs!

It is really noisy there. The toilets sound like a jet engine taking off, if you're facing the pool, you will hear every single person down there till midnight, inside and outside walls offer no soundproofing. Strangely enough, after reading other threads about this, I figured I could just leave the bath fan running to block out the noise, but the bath fan is the quietest thing in the whole room and has a timer on it. Can't even imagine what it would've have been like had there been people staying in the room next to us.

I didn't even flush the toilet too late at night just out of consideration for those in the floors below me.

Glad to say this was not our experience last month at PC. We were in the 50's Tramp building facing the pool and only once in 6 nights did we hear anything from our neighbors; never anything from outside. There are lots of quiet areas at this resort, and lots of noisier areas as well. Ask for a quiet area.

We stayed there in September, in the 80's building poolside. The toilets were loud but not loud enough you could hear them down the hall. We enjoyed our stay and even the pool didn't keep us up. We were on the 3rd floor so that might have helped.

I love the Pop. Have stayed there twice (and going next week). I will agree the walls are thin - you defintely hear toilets flushing next door. But I also heard toilets flushing next door when I stayed at the Yacht Club (although probably didn't sound quite as loud). That being said though it doesn't detract from my stay. The last time we were there we got the 3rd floor 70's building facing the lake. It was so quiet up there. We maybe heard a toilet flush 2-3 times........besides that nothing. So I think the degree of how loud it will be depends on the position of your room. Request a top floor in a building facing the lake. Personally every hotel I have stayed in I can hear people in the hallway and toilets/showers of neighboring rooms. Really not a big deal for me.

We where there last Sept and the resort was packed. Parks where empty but POP was packed I think everyone stayed there....lol

Anyways noise a issue.....nope not at all. If I didn't see our room neighbours once and a while we would have never known they were there and on the side where our doors where close they even had a small baby and we heard nothing...not even the toilets.

We also faced the lake on the 4th floor second room in from the corner in the 70's B building.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Pop is loud at times, but we stayed at AKL and for a deluxe we heard the family next to us very clearly.

We were there the first week of Dec.

The only noise we heard was the water. I hear water running in pretty much every hotel though. It just kind of happens when mulitple units share the same system.

We stayed at Pop last month and we thought it was great. Yes, the toilets are loud and I suppose we heard one once in awhile. The Friday night we were there we heard kids running on the 4th floor walkway (we were on the 3rd floor) but it was only about 10 PM and they just ran back and forth one time.

I have determined that a lot depends on your tolerance for noise to begin with. We live in an apartment, so we are used to hearing doors close and water running, etc. If you are used to complete silence at home then it makes sense that you would find Pop noisy. I don't think it matters which "class" the resort is - if you have loud people in the next room you will hear them.

We stayed at POP in October and we could definately hear conversation from the room next to ours.

Has anyone ever requested a room near the parking lot? My 86 year old Grandfather will be with us and I want to limit his walking. ( We will have a car!)
Is there a building that would be quiet but close to parking? Thanks.

We were at POP 12/23 - 1/1. I agree that it probably depends on your level of noise tolerance. I remember hearing a little noise like toilets and showers but no more so than any other hotel and it certainly didn't keep me awake or keep me from enjoying my stay! We were in the 50's facing EPCOT and I actually thought that it was quiet and peaceful! Of course, it was freezing most of the week and the pools weren't too busy either but I didn't even hear anyone being loud on NYE! They all must have been as tired as us and just crashed! I think you will have a great time no matter where you decide to stay!

I think it all depends on what you are used to where you live. We live in an apartment (which is actually fairly quiet) and we were really worried about all the 'noise' concerns that had been posted about POP. Still, we got a great deal so we figured why not. We had very little issue with noise and we had people on both sides of us. We are late nighters, so they may have heard us, but we never really heard toilets flush or anything. There may have been more noise than most people not coming from apartment life would have been used to, but for us, it wasn't even noticeable. The only thing that was annoying was that housekeeping came around 7:30-8:00 and we like to sleep a little later. They would do the room next to ours and leave the security bar out on the door. Every time they went in and out from their cart the door would BANG really loudly. It got on my nerves a little.

We stayed at Pop last September, and I was very nervous after hearing the reports of the noise.

I must report that we found NO more noise at Pop than we've experienced at other resorts. Yes, the toilets flush loudly, but I've heard them in other resorts also.
