I just read someone's VGF review on another site - at least I think it was on another site - the forties are playing games with my memory.;) About their disappointment with the lack of soundproofing/building materials for the new development. They mentioned next door and above them, both. And that was their only negative on the development.

Yet I haven't read of any issues on the DIS. Anyone?

This issue is important to me because I love hanging out. And I'm probably noisy myself. Insert wink.

I feel like BWV and BLT are the best that I've stayed at around noise. And HHI is hands down, back around, the worst for me ever. And it was simply a man on the phone, no crying children/adults arguing etc. It really sounded like he was sitting with us every time he talked on the phone. Well the studio stay anyway. I've done a one bedroom without the same outcome. But then again I was probably a problem for the studio that time. :lmao: :thumbsup2 Still love the place despite this issue.

Your thoughts on which DVC resort was built the best in this manner.

The doors between the lock off tends to transmit noise. We seem to hear more noise at OKW, maybe due to its age than the other resorts.

Good neighbors are another factor, sometimes you can get selfish idiots next door.

Yes on both. :thumbsup2

Certainly the studios get it the worst if there are any issues at all. But on the second, I was really talking about regular kind of living noise.

I was in a studio at BLT for about nine days over a very hectic Christmas season and heard NOTHING. :thumbsup2 And have been in studios at BWV, not dedicated, and heard very little. HHI stands out because it was unreal in my opinion. Really felt like the person, with normal voice, was in my room. And was very surprised to hear about the person's VGF stay after BLT being built so sound.

Which do you think is the best in your opinion of all your stays, Bill?

We were very impressed with how quiet Aulani was. Maybe part of that was that the resort didn't seem all that full when we were there last month and we were on the 15th floor. We saw a few people in the hallways but never heard any noise in our room.

We didn't have any issues at OKW and we were in a first floor (since the remodel). Again, maybe we didn't have anyone staying above us, who knows.

Quietest is definitely the THV. :)

We find SSR to be the quietest of any resort.

We thought it was very quiet at VGF.

Thanks everyone. :goodvibes

Amy, I guess so on the THV. :rotfl2: :rotfl::thumbsup2. Cute.

And Mike, good to hear. I was surprised to hear the complaint.

I'm at VGF now in a 1 bedroom. I can hear the people next to us in t the studio. They have a little one and I can hear it cry. The also have a toddler who likes to shriek while out on the balcony and I can hear that with our doors shut. I also heard the people above me last night. They sound like they were dribbling a basketball for about 45 minutes straight. As far as sound proofing, I like BLT and VGC the best and so far I have started at all the DVC resort except SSR, Alumni, HH, and Vero.

We're in dedicated 2 bedroom at SSR...it's the very strong toilets that we can here from other villas. No people noise.:)

Sighing.

I knew there must be someone else feeling the same way. Why? Because the review seemed really disappointed that there was a drawback to the villas as they loved their stay there - besides the noise issue.

And they, like you, listed it was coming from two different suites, in two different directions.

Hi Bobbi! :wave2:

I have stayed at SSR a few times. And frankly I couldn't remember what I felt there re: noise or not.

So thank you.

Have a fabulous holiday. I hope you're having fun.

We just stayed at VGF in a dedicated 2BR, 6th (top) floor. We didn't hear any noise in our villa.
However, I stood in the hall one night, and listened to my 5 year old loudly complaining about something. She was in the unit, and I was in the hall. It made me cringe. I think that anyone standing outside our unit, could have heard everything going on inside.

Yup, the problem at ALL villas is not the construction, it's the occupants. Some people don't even HAVE an "inside voice", and some parents have no clue that everyone in a one mile radius can hear their kids. I'm shocked at how many folks walk through the halls yelling and screaming as if no one else in the world exists. Disney can't fix that.

Nope.

Simply doesn't make sense. :confused3

I've already said that I spent nine or ten nights in a BLT studio, which was a lock off by the way, and heard nothing. And I'm sure within that time period I would have had some room changes on either sides and above. Nothing heard during Christmas season, and such a long time, means the construction was well done.

Also, it was one man, without a loud voice, on the phone that could be heard word for word while I was staying in a HHI studio. Which shows lousy construction.

So two different resorts - two completely different outcomes at shielding noise. Nothing to do with people not monitoring themselves. The man was simply talking to a loved one on vacation. :confused3

And I've stayed at all the WDW DVC resorts mulitple times - I'm just using my best and worst examples of noise transfer.

Also, I've owned three condos. And I have a newborn next to me. Her father apologized once for ongoing noise. I had never heard her in my suite. In the hall yes, not even that clearly and not often, but never in my suite. He was shocked. (I wouldn't have cared if I had heard crying, of course) One of my condos was awful for noise. The other two, including my current are wonderful. So different construction choices.

Lastly, I refuse to go on vacation and watch my indoor voice. I'm certainly not excessive in my ways but often I'm with family and having a ball, like many others here, and that includes laughing and talking loud at times because you're just simply *being* in the moment.

So are there people who simply don't care and those with children that don't put limits? Yes, absolutely.

But did Disney build some of these resorts better than others, re: transfer of noise. Therefore, it's their fault on some and a job well done others.

Yes, absolutely. :thumbsup2

Our dedicated 2 BDRM at VGF was very quiet. We were on the top floor and never heard our neighbors or anyone in the hall.

Thank you for everyone's opinions on their stays, on both sides for VGF. I was simply curious, nothing more, when I read the review with that issue. I will stay at VGF for sure, if I can get in. That would never stop me. They look absolutely beautiful and I love the fresh, light colours and clean look.

But if - I mean when ;) I have money to add MK resort, noise transfer would be something I strongly look at because I love to hang out at the resort. And I just might sleep late on vacation. ;)

We were also on the top floor and did not notice having any neighbors except 1 time when a loud family came down the hallway with their children running and screaming. I have heard the same noises at BLT so I would have to say it is more about the people in the villas around you then the actual walls.

We stayed at BLT in a studio this past October and it was so noisy! We were ground floor, pool facing. Noise from pool all day even with patio doors shut. Could hear family in next room via adjoining door. Noisy families/kids in hallway. Heard the Electrical Water Parade through patio doors too!

So if we hadn't had so much noise pollution we may have added on at BLT because we loved everything else. It was just so noisy. We have done most resorts except BVW and BCV, and even done Vero and Hilton Head.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom on the fourth floor of VGF and the only sounds from other units that we noticed were what we thought were opening and closing of the pocket doors in the next room. It wasn't very loud though.

I was constantly telling my children to quiet down the entire stay at VGF because every noise seemed so loud inside the unit, especially in the hallway and kitchen/living area. I guess it was the hardwood floors.
