There is a HUGE difference between the DELUXE dining plan and the quick service plan in terms of what you get, etc. Here's a big hint--the best "quick service" place on property is the Pepper Mart at the Coronado Springs hotel. It's really more like a table service place, but charges a table service credit. They did change the menu part way thru 2009 (so there are items only available at dinner like the salmon). Food is plentiful and really good. DD swears they have the best hamburgers at WDW.

yes the Pepper Market is one of the best values for QS meals. We have never stayed at CSR before but have eaten there every time we go to WDW. We first found it on the "old" dining plan (meaning the meal coupons you could buy) and have been there ever since. This will be our first time actually staying at CSP.

As for the big difference in the deluxe and QS for us on this trip it will not bother us because number one we could not get any ADR's we wanted and we decided that was ok because #2 we have the pepper market we could eat at anytime during our stay since we are staying there and #3 we will be eating wonderful sit down meals for 14 nights on the cruise, #4 this will let us not have to be at a certain place at a certain time and allows for more flex in our limited days. We normally use the Deluxe dining and are big fans of it and if we were not doing the cruise I would probably not change it because like you said there is a big difference in the amount of food you are getting but I have worked it out to where we will use one snack credit for our breakfast item and fill our resort mug (which we get as part of the plan) and then lunch and dinner with our meal credits. I am researching where we will be for each for better quick service meals and so we do not end up eating burgers and fries for 3 days straight!

I have never tried the burgers at Pepper Market though - we always go for the prime rib or best steak they have! So maybe I will have to try the burger when we have lunch there on Wed when we get to the resort - thanks so much for the tip!

Did you find out anything else about the van in Gibralter? We are still interested in sharing it. We too have to book on the 10th.

Hi, everyone! Hi, Brooklyn (we sailed together last Summer). We are on the May 2011 EBTA. Would you mind sharing where you have found the best airfare from Barcelona back? Right now we have it booked thru DCL just in case. I can't wait to read about all the fun you have on your cruise.

Denise

Thanks! It was fun to make!

Ohhhh, okay, so YOU are the artist? :worship:

How about we bribe you with a couple of drinks (on the April 2010 EB T/A) to tweak your graphic for our cruise? Any variation would be appreciated! Our cruise dates are April 10 - April 24, 2010.
:woohoo:

Krisann: I was not trying to be critical of your dining plans at all, only to point out that there was a big difference between deluxe and quick service, with the regular dining plan somewhere in the middle....and to point out how much my family likes the Pepper Market. I could be totally happy there on the quick service plan.

Another excellent selection is in Tomorrowland at MK. There is a restaurant there that has HUGE servings. I think it's Cosmic Ray's. You can get 1/2 chicken + ribs + mashed potatoes + veges + drink + a crummy dessert and it counts as one counter service. It's easily enough to serve 2 people, which then leaves you one CS for a breakfast. We usually start with one of these feeding 2 people (and I get a glass of water) knowing that if someone (read DD) wants more, we have another credit. The quality of the food isn't nearly that of Pepper Market, but it's good for park food.

Thoughts for snack credits that can double as breakfast--the bakery at Norway has HUGE pastries...way more than I can eat. They are another good place for quickserve lunch too--you get a big sandwich and a fruit cup, salad, or soup and a pastry or other dessert. And the food there is really good!

Do you get the feeling that I've been at WDW far too much?

Thanks for reminding me that I needed to make reservations!

Steven, WHen I saw their graphic about a week ago that is exactly what I thought. I even downloaded the graphic of the Mickey with the one flag. It is actually a pin...very good thinking. Then I thought I did not want to cramp their style. I kind of felt that it was theirs for their cruise and did not want to step on their toes.

Triplefigs is super nice though so she may be willing to share! ;)

I just got our confirmation for our Give a Day Get a Day volunteer service! We are going to be making birthday packs for Wheels on Meals for the elderly. I am so happy to be helping with something like this. They use these packs to deliver to the elderly on their birthdays. When I was reading my confirmation to my husband he said you would be doing something like this whether or not you were getting something out of it. I have a huge servents heart and so thankful to have found something that will brighten the day of someone.

Meanwhile I am as sick as a dog right now. I have not been able to get out of bed all day! UGH!!!

Oh no I did not think you were being critical - and if you thought I thought you were I am sorry :hippie:

I was just explaining my thinking and kinda still justifying it to myself even! I have not done anything but deluxe dining since it was offered and actually never done this new quick service plan - but glad it has the mugs :)

Thank you for your suggestions - I forgot about the ribs and chicken combo - that one is a great deal and will feed 2 of us! Not sure if we are even going to MK but if we do we can grab that for sure.:thumbsup2

I really like triplefigs 4-Mickey's w/nation flags graphic! :thumbsup2

Me too, that is so cute!

More magnets!

They posted here long ago and I was excited to see the logo; then I saw it was next year's cruise. Already have 3 DCL cruises Jan-May that year; bummer, dude.

I need a graphics program on my computer so I can overlay images without having the white background from clipart - any suggestions for a Mac?

Lynne

PS: I'm not adding it to Round Two - if you want it for logo, you'll just have to add another cruise to your schedule. :rotfl::rotfl:

Hey guys looking for private tours of Gibraltar. I've got one email sent to a specific company, but I found this information as well.

website: andalucia.com
Taxi

Gibraltar's taxi drivers provide tailor made tours and can be hired at the following locations:

Frontier
Gibraltar Coach Terminus
Casemates Square
John Mackintosh Square (The Piazza)-Town Centre
Holy Trinity-Cathedral Square
Trafalgar Cemetery
Cruise Terminal
The price set by the Gibraltar Taxi Association is £8 pounds per person plus an extra £8 which is the price for entry into the Upper Rock attractions - with a minimum of 4 persons - for tours lasting around one and a half hours. Customised tours can also be negotiated. The standard tour includes a knowledgeable introduction to the following sites: The Great Siege Tunnels, The Moorish Castle, St Michael's Cave, The Rock Apes (monkeys), Europa Point, 9.2" Coastal Guns.

So it sounds like we should be able to find a taxi at the cruise terminal with no problem despite reports from DCL.

Kristi

Kristi, thanks for the info. We'll probably do a private tour of Gibraltar.

I also like Triplefigs image!

Brooklyn, sorry you're sick. Love your GADGAD activity. Nothing is showing up in my zip code that is family oriented. Hoping something will come up...

We also have huge Lands' End duffels. We bought ours before they had rolling wheels. grrr! They even came out with our print with wheels.

Can someone remind me how many formal and semi-formal nights we'll have? TIA

The birthday packs sound like a great idea :thumbsup2

I hope you feel better soon

Saving an image with no background as a PNG will save it as it is, not adding a white background.

The taxis were lined up for a mile and we were not the only ship in port.

Sorry to hear the taxis have long lines -- I thought that sounded like just what we want. At least we have a better knowledge of the comparative price -- Thanks!

Congrats, Brooklyn, on your GADGADD opportunity (and sorry you are sick!). For those of you looking for opportunities, you might want to check out remote opportunities. I am the executive director of a volunteer center and we offer off-site volunteer opportunities, like grant research and wiritng, etc. Also, just so you know, many nonprofits, including volunteer centers, don't have all of their opportunities listed. I know we'll be adding more this week. So there is still hope!
