Nobby's Gnomies... heading to WDW in April 2010

Happy 4th of July Gnomies!!

The sun is out here too. Marc isn't awake yet and it's killing me to sit here with the sun out. :lmao:

well C and LL, enjoy the sun! It's been raining here since yesterday evening. It's not supposed to last much longer and should be dry for fireworks tonight.

Yesterday we went to Des Moines to pick up pictures and stop at the toy store. Then we went to visit my parents for awhile. Today I think we're just going to do some house drive-bys, eat at McDonalds for lunch so the kids can play a bit then hopefully a dinner on the grill before heading out to the evening festivities. Not much that is exciting but should be a nice quiet holiday

For those who weren't in chat last night...I got called for a job interview this week and got the blessing of my supervisor to miss a morning of camp on friday to go. I'm not quite certain what all the job entails but is at a community college and may have some potential. It also is not full-time so hopefully this could work out with my current part-time job. Keep your fingers crossed!

have a good 4th my gnomies!

Happy Independance Day to you Gnomies!

I'm sure you will all be glad to know that we are having a 4th of July BBQ! One of my cousins and her son are up visiting from Indiana. This morning we were teaching Tyson to salute! He's 14 mos. old and sooooo sweet! Oh I need a baby....I guess I'll just have to wait for my fortune to come true! Yesterday we all went for lunch at a chinese food place and my fortune cookie said "you will be happy in wedlock" But it's finally sunny and nice out for a BBQ! I hope you're all having a nice afternoon too!:goodvibes

Stacy... I enjoyed Canada yesterday... We had "beaver' steaks for supper and chocoloate 'Moose'!! Delish! I hope the fireworks didn't cause your igloo to melt!!
Paula

I'm glad you had a nice Canadian dinner! Don't worry, my igloo is well-intact - even after my sunbathing this afternoon! The A/C is working up a storm! I think the fireworks may have startled the polar bears sleeping nearby though!:scared1:

I think the gnomie salute should be making a triangle hat with your arms above your head. :lmao:

I think that is a fabulous salute! We should have taught that to Tyson instead!

Katie - My fingers are crossed for you!!

Good to know you are celebrating too! Sounds like a fun day. I love your fortune! :thumbsup2

Oh, I was planning on ordering Mousejunkies -- does it look good?

Happy Fourth of July!

CP- I finished it this afternoon. It's a fun read. The writing style is pretty funny and there are "Disney insider" jokes on things like the eating at the buffet being a competitive sport, quality of the San Angel food, Journey into Imagination, worst guest behavior observed, a list of the cleanest bathrooms in the World and more. Not really what I'd consider a reference book - wouldn't suggest it as the only guide book for a first-timer.

I learned a couple of new things: Here's a website I will have fun checking out -- pictures of the various suites around property:

Hmmm... it blocks out the address. If anyone is interested, I'll email it to you separately.

Also, I didn't realize there is a free tour (~45 min) in the Morocco pavilion: "Treasures of Morocco." I can't seem to find a specific schedule - allears and other sites just say it is offered several times per day. So maybe after our henna tattoos we can have a private Moroccan tour! ;)

Anyway, rather than putting it on my shelf, would you like me to send it to you?

 OK girls, I am in love...

A couple weeks ago we noticed a new home on the market. We drove by it and thought it was nice but didn't really discuss it much. Today we spent a lot of time driving by it, looking over the info sheet on it and taking the virtual tour online. It is a beautiful 3 BR craftsman style home on almost .4 acres in a nice nieghborhood of well maintained homes in similar styles. It's had a lot of recent updates and is only about 3 blocks from Patrick's school. We figure we could afford near it's asking price and be able to get a loan to make a few big ticket changes to it (replacement windows, remove a few pine trees, possibly a new roof).

We wern't really thinking we would buy a new house for a couple more years but we are both totally in love with this place! It was built in 1930 and has so much charm and beautiful windows, moulding and built-ins. It has a screen porch, a main level sunroom and another sunroom off the master bedroom :lovestruc. We have an appointment to see it Monday afternoon :thumbsup2

katie the house is gorgeous!! Very nice price too:thumbsup2 I don't know real estate in your area, but for my area (which is economically depressed) it would be a steal;)

Hope you enjoyed your sun today C and LL!! We still have none:headache: but at least it isn't raining.

Hope everyone had a nice 4th!

I worked... got a migraine... came home.... took a nap.... now I'm drinking some tea and catching up with you all. I still feel a bit ewwwwww.... but not bad:thumbsup2

Tom is fighting with his new tivo we got him for fathers day. He's very frustrated:sad2: Can't seem to get it to connect to the internet:confused3 I know nothing about it...so i am of no help at all.

Oh Katie, that house is BEAUTIFUL! :lovestruc

C, if CP doesn't want the book, I'll take it! :lmao: Can you email me the website?

Paula, I hope you are feeling better.

Marc & I went out looking for chairs for our balcony. No luck. I want a rocking chair and they are all too pricey. I am going to check out the unfinished furniture store next.

I went to stop at Dairy Queen on the way home and it was closed! Can you believe that!?! On the 4th of July!?! :scared1: Totally Un-American!

Ahh, we struck genious tonight with the fireworks display. they were out at the fairgrounds this year (right on the edge of town) and we picked a church up on a hill about 1/2 mile into town and had a perfect view! To top it all off, we were able to scoot back home before most of the cars had probably been able to pull out of the parking area! We missed out on funnel cakes but picked up some donughts on the way there and the boys were happy. We also missed the bands but we watched Madagascar in the van while we waited so all was good!

so last weekend when some of us were in chat, I mentioned that Greg had come home with the workings to make snowcones (and did end up going to buy the machine to shave the ice too) Well today at the store I picked up a bottle of margaritas and now I will be able to have adult snow cones after the boys go to bed :thumbsup2

Glad you guys like the house. yes, it's definitely a good deal compared to new construction and other than the windows, it seems to be in pretty good shape. I am a sucker for the windows, sunrooms (especially the one off the master bedroom) and screen porch. There have been a couple of similar houses in this part of town and they haven't moved too quickly so I don't feel like we need to rush to make a decision. AND I have this little thing of needing a full-time (or equivalent) job in order to afford it :rolleyes1 (details, details!)

An adult snowcone! Now that's what I call genious! ;)

Fireworks sound fun. Lots of towns in my area canceled them due to budget concerns.

The house is really beautiful. Full time job -pfft, as LL would say. I hope it works out - house and job! :goodvibes

OH, I almost forget to tell my cheeseburger loving friends...

Our McDonalds (so I will assume most McD's also) has some new burgers. They are 1/3 pound angus burgers and I tried the bacon cheeseburger yesterday for lunch. It was really good for fast food! I don't know that I would choose it over say a good bar and grill but if you find yourself having to eat at McD's (which of course is my family!), I would highly recommend it!

Happy Sunday!!! I figured I would get on for a few minutes before getting ready for church!!

Katie I love the house!! It is gorgeous!!!! I'm also very happy to hear you guys had a great fourth and were able to see the fireworks with out all the hassle of lots of people and traffic!!!

Morning Gnomies!

I was surprised that so many towns around here still had fireworks with all the economic concerns but they did.

I want an adult snow cone! That is neat about the better McD's burgers!

It looks like a beautiful day out today. Seems mild out which I like, not this humid yucky thunderstorm weather we have been having!

Thanks for the cheeseburger alert! I will have to check that out!! :thumbsup2

Today is supposed to be gorgeous here! Finally! :dance3:

For those of you on the East Coast...enjoy the weather today!! If the sun is out ....so you should be too LOL!!!!!!

Good morning, Gnomies! Hope everyone had a great Fourth yesterday! We went to a friend's house who loves playing with fireworks and watched his big display from the deck with adult beverages. :thumbsup2

Katie, fingers crossed for the job interview!

C, thank you for the offer on Mousejunkies, but I have an Amazon gift certificate that I have yet to spend, so I think that will be part of my order. It sounds like a fun book that should be added to my Disney library. :thumbsup2

It's supposed to rain all day here -- with some severe thunderstorms thrown in -- let's hope it's just rain and not storms. :scared:
