Don't waste your money. Went to see this movie over the weekend with the understanding that Hollywood took some "liberties" with the content.

That word is too subtle to what they did with the story of Noah, they totally massacred it. Several people got up and walked out. I would have myself if I hadn't been with other people.

When the movie ended, I remarked to the others that I was with, that we should have walked out with the others that left and they all said that they wanted leave also but because we were a group, they would just stay till the end. :lmao:

Its a story about a man building a boat and having 2 of every animal on it and surviving a massive flood. I'm not really sure what other liberties one could take.
Even my 11th grade theology teacher taught us all the stories in the bible weren't accurate :confused3

Haven't seen it but those who have say in spite of it's being inaccurate to the bible story, it's just a lousy movie anyway. Attaching the name Noah provided a great deal of free advertising.

Your 11th grade theology teacher?

Tons of people have been making those same comments.

Who were those rock people/transformers who actually did the work for Noah supposed to be.

I've read mixed reviews on Facebook- those who have reviewed it are Christian. In other words- from my Christian friends, they either loved it or hated it.

Personally, I have no desire to see it- Biblically based or not.

I HAVE seen God's Not Dead twice now and it is a fantastic movie. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Heck my 10th grade theology teacher told us that much of the first part of Genesis was just stories. Oral tales told by Bronze Age tribes to explain the larger world around them that got written down at some point and most likely were translated and retranslated many many times. Who knows if the translations are correct.

Besides I read that the Noah script came more from the Talmud which is older than the Torah which is older than the bible. So the source material is different.

Oh and I went to Catholic school which is why I had to take theology.

Yup, even nuns know the stories in the bible were given certain liberties.
Every movie I have seen based on a fictional work has never been true to the story. I don't think Noah would be any different.

Is the goal of the movie to make the masses believe the story of Noah is factual? Or is it to take a story that most people have heard of and make into a great disaster movie? I don't know anythng about the director so I'm not sure. I guess depending on what you (genarally speaking) expect the movie to be, you are either going to think they did a great job or a terrible one.

That's on my must see list as well as the upcoming Heaven is for Real. :thumbsup2

LOL!! That's exactly what we thought - rock transformers. They were supposed to be fallen angels. I don't recall rock transformers in the bible.

I don't want to cross the line into a religion debate and I hope I can make my point without doing that.

I think part of the problem is that the deviations from the Biblical account were not revealed in the initial press releases. It was billed as the story of Noah, not an artistic interpretation with the Biblical story used mainly as a starting point.

For millions and millions of people, we believe the Bible story is true. To us, changing the basic story by adding rock people and all of the other changes is as offensive as making a movie saying Muhammad consulted with aliens.

Unlike many movies using historical characters for a fantasy movie (like Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Slayer), this one was not presented as such.

Just my opinion.

That is pretty funny to me as a person who has seen most angel/devil tv shows and movies.

A fallen angel would NOT build a boat for Noah, just saying.

Now I have to look up who wrote this.:lmao:

Alrighty, this has the hand of Darren Aronofsky who lists a lot of things that are "out there" with regards to movie writing including Black Swan, Life of Pi, Requiem for a Dream, to name a few.

That's just it though, I believe this WAS presented as a "fantasy" type movie. Russell Crowe gave numerous interviews saying as much. I'm just not side how many folks were listening.

I love disaster movies. I haven't seen this yet, as it's a "wait for DVD/Redbox" for me, but I'm looking forward to seeing it in a few months.

I actually enjoyed the movie. Yes, I laughed at the rock angels, but I'm progressed enough to understand that it was the directors rendering and there was a good enough explanation of it in the movie.

The movie was of hope, mercy, good and evil.

Every seat in our theater was filled and at the conclusion, the audience applauded. Now, I didn't, but I was running out of the theater pretty quickly trying to beat the crowd.

Doesn't follow the bible version, but I'm not sure how anyone could tell the story exactly as it is written. The writer would still have to fill in some parts.

I think you hit the nail there.

I love Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. That is a great movie. That being said the author of the book, Seth Grahame-Smith, also did the screenplay.

As a side note while looking on IMDB, they of course are doing Pride and Prejudice and Zombies as a movie.

What does that mean? "....progressed enough..."?

It blows my mind that so many people seem to have gone to see Noah with an expectation of accuracy. It is a Hollywood movie! Film adaptations that are true to the books they're derived from are the exception, not the rule.

For the sake of discussion, list a few.
