NOAA has predicted a very active huricane season for 2006 again, (on CNN ) Will this effect your travels dates you have made or are thinking of making?

I am planning on Last week of Sept but I don't think I will change

How agout you?

Dave

I just got an MSNBC News breaking e-mail and this is what they said:

"MSNBC Breaking News: NOAA predicts four to six 'major' hurricanes in upcoming season."

I hope like most weather people they are a little "off" with there prediction!

I'm already in Florida, so no for me.

I'd rather be at Disney then home without power.

The official predictions I read forcasted a major one to hit the Carolinas and Texas. Again, it's just predicted based on what they know about weather patterns and the ocean so we can only speculate, but they all agree it is supposed to be an active season.

I am going at the end of September also and I can only hope and pray that my trip will not be affected. Predictions is a fancy word that weather people use that aslo means "guess". And a "guess" is not a good enough reason to base my trip on so I try not to pay any mind to them. :rainbow:

Ugh, I am still recovering from last hurricane season. I am in FLA and we are going the 3rd week of Sept. We are not going to change our plans but then again even if there is a storm we wont have an issue with cancelled flights etc.

We're going the third week of Aug, and aren't changing our plans. Tough to plan around something as unpredictable as a hurricane. Even if one of the six to eight predicted storms exists at that point, it would need to make landfall during our trip, and even further it would need to make landfall in Florida.

Could happen, sure, but still not worth changing plans. ;)

Hmmmm...I wonder if travel insurance covers Hurricanes? :confused3 We are going 10/10-10/22 and we are not changing our plans. From what I can remember of last years season, D/W did o.k. and what's a little power outtage? I am a little worried about being in the air but I'm sure that flights will be cancelled right? :bitelip:

My friend and I are booked Oct 15-22..We are not cancelling. She is flying in from Canada and Me from TX. This is our annual time together, 4th year..we wouldn't miss MNSSHP...or our week in WDW.....

Our family will be there Labor Day week and we are hoping for no hurricanes. Just in case we bought the trip insurance. I'm not changing my plans just hope for good weather.

We will be there 9/30 to 10/13, not changing. I might go ahead with trip insurance though. I also might change my drive back to a day other than Friday the 13th, LOL!

We'll be there from Sept. 16th to the 23rd...no plans on changing our dates...

Retirement does have its upside in that we are flexible. Okay, maybe not our joints but our timelines are. :rotfl2:

We drive so I start watching the weather about a week or so ahead and then we leave early or late according. When I arrive we just enjoy and do not worry again until a few days before we are to leave.

If forced to we can always extend our planned 20 day trip. It is a hard fact of life but I figure the $200 we save by NOT buying the trip insurance will pay for an extra day or two. :thumbsup2

I sure do hope that it is an easy season though as I do not want my other DIS friends to suffer any problems.

As weather is a hobby of mine, I do not think you can alter your future plans from this level of information. My impression of this season is that is will be less active than last years record setting pace, and maybe 2 or 3 storms reaching the east coast. There have been more than one prediction that says the Northeast NJ or NY could be in the mix :stir: this year.

I always purchase trip insurance and keep a watchful eye on the forecast. You may have to alter or change plans such as leaving a day or two earlier, but by most accounts, the storms happen when they do, and our technology has not progressed enough to plan long range with any accuracy. :) Being prepared and informed is your best tool.

Hurricane Center Predicts Calmer Season

I'm not changing. We are going 9/23-10/1. And if a storm is going to hit during that time, well that is what trip insurance is for.

Me either - and that's when I'll be there too! 9.23 - 10.3!!!

Would rather be holed up in Disney with a hurricane than at home. We will be traveling 9/29-10/6.
