no WDW for us this year...

I thought we would return to WDW and throw in US/IoA later this summer, but I always said to the family that our financial situation could not change in order for it to become reality. Well, our situation hasn't really changed, but affording WDW two years in a row would require way to much penny-pinching. I think I'll put it off for a couple more years and go back the year DD graduates from HS.

We've decided, instead of WDW, to treat the family to Cedar Point this year - while we're feeling young enough to ride the wild coasters they have there. We're going to get the new MAXX pass that offers admission to all of the Cedar Fair parks. We can visit Cedar Point two or three days and Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom (only an hour away) a number times to get our money's worth. We might even take a day to go over to the Cleveland area to check out Geauga Lake (formerly Six Flags Ohio) and the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. We're also thinking about going to the inaugural NHRA national event in Norwalk.

I've been reading reviews of the Hotel Breakers on TripAdvisor. Are the rooms in the "old" section really that terrible? It's really bumming me out because I adore the charm of the hotel's lobby. We're on a budget, so could anyone recommend any hotels nearby that are under $100 a night?

Sorry you're gonna have to postpone WDW, but I'd jump at a season pass for Dorney. We're in maryland, and next to WDW that is our favorite park to visit! We generally stay at a near by hotel and go for several days. It's an awesome park!

No idea for the hotels though. Sorry.

We can make day trips to DP. We used to go every year for my company picnic ('92-'01) and I went many times as a teen. I figure at least two days at each park (DP & CP) will compensate for the cost of the MAXX pass.

We are kinda in the same boat as OP. We have been to WDW the last two yrs in a row and are taking a break this yr. Instead we are going to check out some of the things in this part of the country we haven't had a chance to yet. We are going to Mt St. Helens, go on a whale watching tour and check out some of the state parks we've heard so much about but haven't had time to visit yet. We are really excited about it. There is so much to do around here, but we just never take the itme to do it. Plus we are planning our next trtip for WDW in Nov 2008, so I have that to look forward to as well.
