Sailed the 2010 WBTA and loved, loved, loved it!!! We had such a great group of people. Many sailed again in 2011 but I started a new job and there was no way to swing it.

I love the WBTA for all the reasons everyone stated. I live on the east coast and flying over to Barcelona, I dealt with the jet lag early in the trip. We flew over thursday evening arriving on Friday morning. I would like to fly over at least one more day in advance to allow for a bit more time to sight see in Barcelona. By the time we got to the hotel and grabbed lunch, we only had the afternoon before the DIS meet at the Hard Rock.

We stayed at the Praktik Rambla (beautiful little boutique hotel) and practically took over the place. One of the members of our group organized a bus pick-up for us to get to the port.

I am hoping for a more relaxed boarding this time around. In 2010 my DIL suffered some food poisoning and started getting sick while in line waiting for the doors to open. What an experience! My DS and I were so worried about her and how Disney would handle her that we couldn't relax until we were officially on board. Needless to say, our first day was not what we had hoped for! Luckily she began to feel better later that day and by the next day was practically back to normal.

As far as kids on board, it was really quite empty. I know there were alot of home school kids on board and some of the mothers offered their help with keeping kids on track. Additionally, I know some family members from the southern schools, had a school break and were able to take the kids and only miss one week of school. It definitely gets tougher to take them as they hit the older grades. Alot of schools are so strict and won't allow that much time. We had one family have to drop out (they live in Germany) when the school informed them that they had no problem with them going but if they took their daughter out for the two weeks, she would have to repeat the grade!!

But most of all, I love the 25 hour days!!

For us the WB is good for a few reasons. A few more months to save up $$ is a big one. We homeschool and our girls are in early elementary, so we are wanting to do this while we can. I love the idea of gaining a few extra hours on the ship (ends up being a 12 hour swing over the EB, right?).

Seeing how excited everyone is, and how much they enjoy being together and sailing together is a huge bonus! We sailed with a great group of DISers in March of last year. In Oct, the group fell apart and we only had a couple to make it to the meet. I have heard great things about the extra activities!

If the last WBTA is anything to go by then the Promenade Lounge will be full to the brim with no empty seats & barely anywhere to stand! We packed the place out, the poor bar staff were rushed off their feet.

Westbound over Eastbound ... no brainer ... 25 hour days
Plus the Ports are better and you have the wonderful Caribbean Ports and Castaway cay to look forward to which makes the end of the cruise a lot more bearable. Plus if you can get more time off you can do WDW or explore Florida at the end of the trip which again gives something to look forward to at the end

So who is just as excited as I am about the possibility of a West Bound Trans Atlantic Cruise in October 2013???

I know plenty of my cruise friends from September 2011's WBTA are desperately hoping the rumours are true and I am hoping we get to sail together again and of course making many new friends along the way.....

And you see how it worked on the Board and FB. Before we know we have over 50 people talking to each other about a rumoured cruise. This group is so different then the group for the Hawai cruise in October 2012. There is so less activity.

We are booked on the Pacific Cruise with the Wonder in Sept 2012 and someone started this on the Disboards in October and it's still on page 2....!!

The pub crawl was fun, even though we bailed a bit early. And someone had to lead Norman astray, because, as we all know, Margaret doesn't drink!


On a sad note, the puppy whose picture I posted on Facebook didn't make it. At least she had a bit of comfort & kindness in her last hours. The people who did it to her are in jail. We all think they need to be *under* the jail.

That's sad, the world can be a very cruel place what some people can do to others and defenceless animals never ceases to disappoint !
