We are staying at BCV in a 1-BR in September. My DS16 and DS12 won't sleep in the same bed. It is too bad that we won't be able to get a rollaway to make the occupancy of 4 work for us. I will have to get an air bed on the way to the resort from MCO. Anyone have a recommendation for an inflatable bed?

I assume I will get a twin size. Is there room for a larger one or am I pushing it with a twin as it is?

Great question! My boys are 16 & 13. Same problem. Geesh! I'm interested in hearing any answers you get on this.

We always bring a air bed with us, but we drive so we usually take a queen and a twin. Sometimes we use the twin on the road and we use the queen if we get a 1 bedroom in OKW. We stayed in BCV once with my DD and her girlfriend they were about 11 so they slept in the fold out couch. There would not be much room in there for anything else. You would only be able to fit a twin after some moving of the furniture. Good luck.

Time to buy more points and move up to a 2 bedroom. ;)

An AKV or BLT 1 BR (other than value) would work also. However, boys easily outgrow the sleeper sofa so a 2 BR might be better long term.

Just tell your kids that they can either sleep in the same bed at Disney or in separate beds at a relatives while Mom and Dad go to Disney by ourselves.

Problem solved.

Ditto on alamode's suggestion ;). "Suck it up, buttercup!"

Also, when our kids won't settle down DH and I will each take one bed and one kid-put the two adults next to the night table so you get to be somewhat close and the two kids on the outside so they're too far apart to squabble. It might make your DS's feel weird enough sleeping next to Mom to decide the next night they can get along. :thumbsup2

As to airbed suggestions, get one with an inflater or you'll be puffing on it all night. Any cheap one from the camping store should do-we use them when we camp.

although I think alamode has the best solution, I can tell you that we were in a 2 BR BCV last Aug. and I had a similar problem. I read here on Disboards that some of the Villas had air mattresses that you could use. Even after hearing that from more than one person I was leery about arriving with no other option. I called MS and added an air mattress as a request on our reservation - as with all requests they told us they could not guarantee there would be one available but we took our chances and the day we checked in I asked about it and a full size air mattress was delivered (with bedding) to our room within minutes! It saved us time and money!

:thumbsup2 Ditto! I would have felt fortunate to be at Disney whatever the sleeping arrangements. Price out a 2 BR and make them mow grass to "pay" for the points it takes to get one. ;)

We are looking into buying and froma point saving issue would love to sleep 6 in a 1br. My In laws vacation withus frequently and i know at AK you can get a 1br that sleeps 5, so can you get/bring an airmatress and make it 6?? Hope i caN GET AN ANSWER ON THIS ONE

Posting this response before the thread gets locked... We have used a twin-sized Aerobed in a BCV 1BR - there's a couple places to fit it in without a problem. I think a queen size would be a problem though.

What are you kidding me? DVC has air mattresses? And they give them to you without pay. Again, are you kidding? I never heard of this before. Doesn't it mess with the room occupancy limits if they give you a bed that sleeps two people? How do they know you are not stuffing people into your room if they allow bedding for two more?

I wouldn't try it unless one of the traveling party was a baby in a crib, and then only at BLT and AKV.

First off, it would be miserable to have 6 people in a one bedroom.. Secondly, and most importantly, it is expressly against the rules. Disney could kick the bunch of you out. I hate to see posts like this one. Stuffing people into rooms is not what DVC or any high end timeshare is about. If you have 6 people you NEED a two bedroom unit. End of story!!!!!

We are a family of 6 also and tired of paying for two rooms and that is why we bought DVC, for the 2 bedroom. I would never try to cram all four kids in the 1 bedroom. It would be a mess. Buy enough points to get the two bedroom, it is wonderful. I won't vacation any other way now. It is so relaxing to have enough room for everyone.

The only 1 BR that will do 6 are the non value at AKV and BLT and even then, one must be under 3.

You can't legally put six people in a one bedroom at Disney. I wouldn't buy based on the idea that you would try to consistently break the rules and squeeze six in there (omg a one bedroom with the inlaws what a nightmare-you'll all be on top of each other).

It's a penny-wise, pound-foolish plan.

Just buy enough points to enjoy yourself. And if you can't afford to buy enough points to give yourself enough room and follow the rules, then maybe that purchase is not the right way to go.

Last winter we ordered a aero bed from Target online and had it delivered to the resort, no charge for delivery. It was there waiting for us. It was the kind you plug in to inflate, worked great.

Back to the OP's question/issue: I now have 3 grown sons. When they were in their teens, if they wanted to sleep on the floor, we let them. They often had sleep overs at friends' houses and slept on the floor. We didn't get them air matresses. We gave them the option of bringing a sleeping bag or we might get an extra sheet for the floor. From my viewpoint, sleeping on a DVC floor would be a lot better than some of the places Uncle Sam gave me to sleep when I was wearing a green uniform in the Army.
