No water shampoo?

Never thought I'd see a shampoo argument. Actually we normally only wash a few times a week because we have dry hair. And I agree people wash their hair too often. I also didn't realize how dry shampoo works, and after that I decided no way to use it. I am staying the heck away from that ear, and spraying stuff on her head seems a bit dangerous. We've only washed it once with baby wipes, and it looks pretty decent. The bigger issue turned out to be brushing, which she really doesn't want to do because of the ear. Thank goodness we only have a few more days. And thanks again for all the replies.

Why doesn't she want to brush it? Does it tug too much on the skin around her ear? If that's the issue and you find it's getting tangled, you can just hold the hair in that area and start gently combing it, starting at the bottom of the strand then work your way up. That could reduce how much you have to tug on it.

I don't know about the no water shampoo never heard of it. I never wash my girls hair all the time. They only wash their hair if they get sweaty. Washing it all the time dries the hair out.

I just wanted to say that we use coconut oil for their hair. Its a great detangler, keeps the hair smelling nice and helps when putting it up or braiding it. I even started using it instead of hair gel for my hair.

A salon cannot be "prepared" for this type of thing. They are just as likely to get water in the kid's ear as anyone at home using a detachable sink spray or shower head.

I think it might depend on the salon as well as the specific issues. I know one that was very prepared and did a wonderful job with a medical issue in the past. Anyway, just a thought.
