This is the first time I did not get my waitlist. I made it over 6 months ago and now I am stuck. I will be in Orlando for a conference and was hoping to use some of my points for a room for October 5 - 7. Now I have to fork out 200 dollars a night to stay. I'm not happy!

So sorry. I am finding it harder and harder to get a room and off the waitlist. We are going for a 3 day weekend in a couple of weeks and can't even get all nights in the same resort.

It's probably because this is around the 40th anniversary celebration coming up in October. I believe it's the week of October 1st. I think most people booked up that week as soon as they realized there was something going on .

Edit: I forgot the Food and Wine Festival is starting this weekend so that's probably another reason why people are not getting their waitlists coming through for this time. I hope something opens up for you

Waitlists drop at 7 days, so I would keep calling.

I would call a couple of times a day. The wait list will only fit you in if all the days work out, so maybe by calling you can get one day at a time. I just called and got one of the days moved. I have been calling twice a day for the past 2 weeks. So it may work for you.

That's the way to do it, but how can you stand the Disney ad at the start of the call? Drives me nuts calling just a few times per year.

This is Saturday is the mk 40th anniversary, start of food and wine, and I believe also the run Disney events. Then next weekend is columbus day weekend, so this week and the next two are all going to be extremely busy. I think it's just a case of the dates for your trip being busier than you realized - a trip a couple of weeks ago would have been no problem.

Eta - yes, run Disney events this Saturday include a full marathon, a half marathon and a 5k. Also the swan and dolphin is having it's food and wine classic next weekend. Just too many events, not enough dvc space!

Wish I could of gone a few weeks later but there is a conference I am attending at Bonnet Creek so I cannot change the time frame. I am calling 2x a day and now have just settled on Thursday instead of Wednesday as well. So I am hoping calling will get me at least Thursday. Keeping my fingers crossed and yes I hate that long message wen I call.

Call every day up until the day you would need to check in. You may still get lucky.

I think it's because they hold to many rooms out for cash, and they have over sold . I have been a member since 1996 I think, bought Vero back when we got free disney park hoppers everytime we came to the WDW until 2001. It was awesome! Now, the perks are far and few between, the price of everything has gone through the roof, and I find I am happy my little ones are just about over it for an every other year event.
Oh don't get me wrong, we use the DVC points to go other places and are darn hyappy we have them, but it's def much harder to book the more popular resorts. Haven't been able to get a room at boardwalk for 4 years BUT we did get ihn to BLT and this Dec we are at AK, not complaining but I did call the absolute first day I could.
good luck, and I think we should all protest the lack of rooms for DVCers

was wondering too. can't believe that the op can't even get into one of the bigger resorts like okw and ssr. I could certainly understand a wl not coming through for bwv or bcv, esp. with F&W and add the approaching holiday weekend to the mix...

op, hope you find a room. when you check on your wl do you ask about other availability too?

As PP said call everyday. I called everyday once in the morning and once in the late afternoon and low and behold the day before we left we got our waitlist wish.

Oct 5-7 buts up to the Columbus Holiday weekend so that could be the reason.

Also curious as to why if you are unhappy about $200 a night that you dont stay at the value resorts. I see the value resorts are $105 on expedia??? Have you checked for non-dvc resorts such as POR and CBR because if they have availablity you can use your DVC point to stay there and would only have to pay $95 total for your stay.

As someone who has owned for 15 years, you should understand about how it all works. They don't hold out rooms for cash, members trade their points into DVC for non-DVC stays, like Adventures by Disney, DCL, etc (just like you do). So DVC has to pay for those somehow. So DVC gives the lodging those points represent to Disney Reservation Center to sell to pay for the member's trip.

And every point sold, represents a portion of some villa somewhere. It might be VB, Aulani, GCV, HHI and that member wants to go to WDW in October for the anniversary, the marathon, Food & Wine. October isn't the slow time it was in 1996.

I waitlisted at BWV and AKV but I know that BW would be busy due to f&W. I was just hoping. As for why I don't like paying 200 for a room. I am at HHI right now and a friend is getting married in Savannah Sat. So I am paying 365 dollars to stay in Savannah this weekend. Couldn't get all 4 days at HHI. So I am a little short on cash at the moment. Plus if you have ever been to HHI, and you want to taste the flavors of the island, it is not cheap!

I was thinking the same thing. It is hard to believe EVERYTHING was booked up at 6 months. I mean I was able to book something for spring break at 6.5 months LAST year and feel like even if I'd waited a couple more weeks I could've still found something. Called right at 7 mo. this year but even last year there were plenty of options. The latest out that we've ever booked was 3 months - and that was for Memorial Day weekend (which overlapped with Flower & Garden & Star Wars that year). Still had availability at SSR & OKW when I called that time. I always, always call with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice in mind. Perhaps the OP was inflexible with where they would stay & didn't book whatever was open at the time? I still can't believe both SSR & OKW were booked solid too.

I feel your pain. We are wait listed for the same time frame and everything is booked. I even call and check on other resorts (you can only wait list a couple of options) and not even Saratoga Springs (huge resort!) had availability. I am going to keep at it though - you never know!!

Op sorry this happened... the chance of getting BWV during F&W Fest would have been difficult, SSR or OKW may have been a better bet to try and WL considering their size.

Hopefully something, somewhere opens up for you.

I know it's not ideal but have you considered staying at a mod or value for those couple of days to save some cash?

I tried booking for 1/4-1/9 and couldn't get a room (studio, 1BR or 2BR) ANYWHERE!!! I tried all of the DVC properties. Finally had to settle for the polynesian (using reservation points instead of member points). I called member sevices twice trying different DVC booking agents hoping one would find something the other didn't. I'm really disappointed in DVC. It seems that they may be holding too many rooms for non DVC members. It's fustrating seeing promotions for free this and free that for non DVC members who have the availablity of rooms that we are blocked out of.
It's hard convincing family and friends to buy into DVC when I can't get dates/rooms that they can get (plus they get all the free dining and such)
