The DVC site says daily delivery of the USA Today is included at club level for AKV. It wasn't when we were there in Feb.. I asked at the desk and the CM checked with someone who confirmed that it is not included. Said the membership had voted against it.;)

Anyway, it's still listed as a club level perk on the site. Perhaps we're the only family that cares but I was looking forward to that. It's one thing about DVC that I miss compared to the deluxe resorts.

Furthermore, the USA Today is not even sold in the gift shop at AKL probably because everyone in the hotel rooms does get daily delivery (M-F). So anyone staying in a villa can't even buy it.

The lounge apparently gets a copy or two but we only saw a copy one morning.

Nothing earth shattering but still....

Gee, the membership voted against it?! I must have missed that one. OK, so who voted against it?

Technically our voting representatives on the Condo Association could have voted against it on our behalf. Of course, I doubt whether something as mundane as newspapers in guest rooms would be put to a vote.

Aside from that, my only other comment is this: You mean Disney Cast Members were giving out information that wasn't entirely correct?!?! Gee, that never happens. :lmao:

Yes, I noticed we didn't have it earlier this month either. Did they also vote against the turn down service???? We actually only got that one night out of 4 too, and it's listed as one of the perks too.

WHAT are you paying extra for (via points) for concierge level if you get NONE of the perks.... how stupid are these policies... no newspaper, no turn down service IN CONCIERGE???

We're planning to stay there next go round, I'd better get turn down service!

We did have turndown all three nights we were there. I hope Diane's experience was the exception.

I suspect this is a matter of miscommunication. Either someone at AKL didn't get the message that DVC club level rooms were supposed to get the paper even though other villas don't or the list on the member website was put together with a standard list of club benefits without vetting it.

I wish they would either correct the site or get delivery started...preferably the latter!

got told they could deliver if you paid a little extra for it.

since the BWV and VWL don't deliver any papers to DVC members. was surprised.

didn't ask at BCV.

Didn't you all get the online survey on that ? :rotfl2:

funny -we stayed at VWL a few times prior to buying, and just assumed when we bought we'd get the paper. I do miss that.

Robo Daddy, there are papers in the lounge. NY Times and WSJ. A concierge CM told me that they get one or two copies of USA Today but the only one I saw came from behind the desk when I asked about it.

Pat, the web site says it is delivered as a perk or entitlement for club level at AKV. It's delivered to all deluxe rooms but no other DVC rooms. When there was no copy outside our door nor in the lounge I tried the giftshop. Nope, becasue all rooms get it but try the front desk. No, they didn't have any copies that day but thought that I could arrange for delivery for a fee. As I recall I was told to order with lobby concierge but that part of my memory is fuzzy!! Anyway, whomever I spoke with said no go.

I remember my door looking for it when we joined. I miss it too.

We have stayed concierge three times since it opened. We never got our own newspaper but they did have them in the loudge. You are supposed to get turn down, If you dont call the concierge desk and they will get things corrected. We tipped mouse services for both daily cleaning and turn down. They would let out the sofa to a bed at night and put it back to a sofa during the day. We also got towel animals daily and they placed our DD toys around the room in cute ways. The IPO staff is wonderful but the folks upstairs can get slack sometimes so dont hestate to call someone if your not happy. A lot of people dont know if cokes or beer are not out all you have to do is ask one of the lodge staff and they will get one for you. We were even givin pouchos to take to the park on a rainy day.

LOL! They probably got their information directly from Larry. He is just a wealth of DVC information. Love those membership votes. Seems I get so many of them when they put an issue to vote by the membership.

I think there are still "growing pains" with DVC at AKL/AKV. We were there last week and on Tuesday, our trash and towel day, I came back to the villa to find we had not been given a new supply of soap, lotion, etc. I called housekeeping and was told that such things weren't included in T&T service. I explained that they certainly were included at the other DVC locations where I own and stay. Also, there is a card in the villa that clearly says T&T includes replacement of "amenities." When I asked housekeeping what those "amenities" might be if not soap, lotion, etc. the CM told me he thought it referred to paper products. :rolleyes1 Then the CM decided to check with someone else and I could hear him being told that T&T service DID include soap, etc. and they would be sending the missing supplies right up to us.

If something doesn't seem right, call and complain. Sometimes they just don't know any better.

I agree it could be growing pains.

Although I don't think I complained, I certainly asked. And AKL did follow up with a call while I was there assuring me that the paper wasn't included for DVC club level. The call was above and beyond in my opinion even if it contradicted the DVC site.

Oh, and I told the CM at the concierge desk that it was on the website but then couldn't find it myself when I returned to the villa.:rotfl: Today I noticed that concierge level is not on the site unless you log on. Or at least that I could find!!!

Well it is still listed onthe DVC website as an amenity:
Jambo House Concierge Accommodations
Studio, One-Bedroom, and Two-Bedroom Lockoff

Kilimanjaro Club Concierge accommodations include the following Kilimanjaro Club Level Services:

Advanced Walt Disney World itinerary planning service
Personalized front desk and Concierge service
Daily housekeeping service and evening turndown with chocolates
Secured key access to 6th floor and Club Level lounge
Weekday newspaper delivery of USA Today
Assistance with special events planning and shopping
Club Level Lounge refreshments

Of course the little "subject to change" is also the mantra, so maybe we eat and drink too much and they are cutting hte paper to save money!

I think I'll print the list of benefits and take it with me in April when we're staying concierge. When something is missing, it helps to have it in writing to show that it "should" be there.
