Hee Hee! I can answer this. It all started with the Boo....

October 2006 there was a thread about being Boo'd in your neighborhood, with cookies and whatnot. And I posted, "It would be fun to figure out a way to Boo on the DIS. Send people a PM and they could put something in their siggy to show that they have been Boo'd. (You know, the way you put that picture on your door if you've been Boo'd IRL)." So then another poster named Taeja helped me come up with the actual PM, and she found the icon and we started sending out the PM to random people on all the boards, as well as all the people we know on the Community Boards.

The gobble and the hohoho and the frosted were all just spinoffs of that. The pickle too. Just being silly.
