Just a note to my Dis friends that I had to cancel my upcoming trip :( . Obviously, I am quite sad because we had just about reached the single-digit dance when I unfortunately broke my right foot in a freak boating mis-hap when we were in Maine this Sunday:(.

Please think good thoughts for me as I learn Friday morning whether my foot will require surgery. Right now it looks like my best case scenario is 2 months off my feet. With surgery, it could be 6 months so my trip is postponed indefinitely.

Right now, I just don't have the heart to call and cancel all my ressies. But, I would like to thank all who were such a help in planning our first trip to the HRH.

Hugs!

Jodie

Jodie! Oh no! I am so sorry, I can't believe it. :( I will be thinking of you and wishing you the best news. My DH broke his achilles last summer and it was a real bummer. I hope you can reschedule soon. (((HUGS)))

Oh Jodie that is so sad. I sure hope that you recover quickly!

oh no!!!!! I'm not going to be able to meet you now :( :(

Hope you don't need surgery!!!! You get better soon!!!!! :(

you just better heal soon so you can head over to Universal quicker and meet me at the GB Show...consider it a raincheck ;)

:( :( :( :( :( :( :(

I am really sorry to hear this. I hope you get better soon, so you can replan your trip...

Sending good thoughts and (((Hugs))) your way!!!!

Feel better!

Oh Jodie, I am so sorry to hear about your foot! I know how disappointing it is to have to cancel a trip. I had to do the same once. I hope all goes well Friday and I will be thinking all positive thoughts for you as well as wishing you a speedy recovery. Cheer up, soon you can start planning a new trip!

So sorry to hear about your foot. Why not get a wheelchair for your vacation? The water taxis have special places for wheelchair bound people to ride.....and most of the rides are handicap accessible. We saw quite a few wheelchairs while we were there. It's not really a crowded time of year down there, so you wouldn't have a lot of that to deal with. Besides, think of all the special treatment you'd get at any of the Universal hotels! I hope you don't need surgery on your foot. You could always get a reference of a dr. down there from your dr. just in case. That's what I did for one of my kids this past trip.....luckily didn't have to use it, but I felt secure. Maybe you don't have to cancel the trip.

*they sell special waterproof bags to put over casts now...I've seen them at the drugstores here.

:(

I am so sorry to hear that sad news.... time will pass and you will get another chance to go. Good Luck on Friday.

>>^..^<<

I feel for you and hope you heal soon. We've used wheelchairs many times with numerous people in our party even with my son once with good luck.

PS. If you do not get to go this time. Think how well planned your next trip will be!

Thanks so much for all your kind words and wishes. They must have worked because I'm glad to report that my orthopedic surgeon has opted out of surgery (for now). As he said, "you can't screw a cobweb together." I managed to shatter two of my midfoot bones, and I'm now in a pretty green cast. We'll periodically check the status of my healing with x-rays and more cat scans to ensure my bones are healing properly, but my doctor hasn't ruled out reconstructive surgery later. So, please keep my foot in your thoughts!

Now, if I were only coordinated enough for crutches...

Thanks again!

I'm so glad you don't have to go through surgury - I've been thinking about you and wishing for the best. So when will you plan your next trip? And crutches aren't so bad, DH really got the hang of them and could even cruise on the stairs!

All right Jodie!!!!!!! :)

Hope you won't ever need to get that surgery, so I continue to bring lots of "good luck" wishes your way on your road to recovery. :)

Get that foot ready for a trip to Universal! ;)

Thank goodness no surgery as of yet! Great news! Dont worry about those crutches, soon you'll master them! Continued wishes for a speedy recovery, Jodie.

Jodie,

That's great to hear!!! Any other updates!!!! Hope things are getting better and hope that you can get out to Universal soon!!!

I think that is what will cure you!;)

Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
The parks & hotels are your destiny & will certainly be there for ya'll soon!!

I'll be thinking of you when I am there this Thursday.

Ill also take pictures of the Ghostbusters Show so you know who you would have seen...lol :) Well, I need SOME excuse to take more pictures (lol j/k).

Hope you are feeling better

Thanks a bunch! I got some more good news that I'll likely have my cast off about 2 weeks sooner than we first thought -- October 16! Then it's a walking boot for a good month. I'll have to change my countdown clock!

I'll tell you that I no longer have any shame -- I lost all that as soon as I needed help getting in and out of the bathtub! Also telling my BF that bras do not go into the dryer was a little humiliating too. This has certainly been a humbling experience! I am able to go up the stairs on crutches, but I'm too chicken to go down with them, and wind up going down the stairs on my bum. Graceful, I am not!

I don't think we'll be able to make it down to Universal before the end of the year, but I think we're shooting for March.

Meanwhile, I hope everyone is safe from Isabel. Stay dry!

I'm glad things are going good. Your BF sounds like a great guy - sorry about your laundry though, LOL Keep us updated!

Great news AlexandNessa :) Glad to hear! You'll have to let me know when you come down...my AP expires in March, but we will be renewing, so give me a date that I can shoot for. :)
