There have been a few threads where people have reported being called about new ADRs due to the extended closure of Teppanyaki -- they have been able to get Le Cellier, Coral Reef, etc. Although I am very happy for them, how are these popular restaurants suddenly available when people have been calling for weeks (sometimes months) with no luck? Are they just sqeezing people into an already over-packed schedule, and will it cause even longer wait times for those that already had an ADR during the same timeframe?

I am really curious about this because I called a few days ago when I heard my Teppanyaki ADR was a no-go and was only offered one or two choices (none of which were very appealing to our party).

1) For most people, they put them into an open ressie time at another eatery.
2) But, for others, they simply do an override and put them anywhere they want.
3) The ressie system has an override code that can be entered.
4) And, any restaurant can have more ressies than tables.
5) In this case, other people just wait longer at the podium for a table.
6) The restaurant runs behind, or well behind, in ressie time.
7) But, all EVENTUALLY get in.

NOTE: The override has been known for a long time, and NO, the Concierge Floor concierge do not have access to it. Some think the Concierge Floor people or advance ressies concierge (IPO) can get tough ressies by breaking in or overrides.

They didn't do us any favors. We had a party of 8 cancelled for 9/13 at Teppanyaki and they couldn't fit us in anywhere good. We've tried several places and different times and even was willing to switch to a lunch meal instead of dinner.

The CM who helped me said that every restaurant in EPCOT added tables to accommodate the Teppanyaki ADRs. When Teppanyaki re-opens they will go back to the original table configuration.

1) It is a good thought., and a good "spin".
2) For those who regularly eat at WS restaurants
. . . how many eateries are crowded with tables now?
. . . where would they add tables?

NOTE: As the best reference, people have complained about how crowded with tables Le Cellier has been for a long time. Where would they actually put extra tables?

I think the majority of the reservations are coming from the block that would normally held for walk ups. Others will be made up from extra tables, wait staff and kitchen staff. The faster you can serve people, the faster they'll be able to turn the table. The remainder will just be pushing the constraints of what the restaurant can do, increasing wait times a bit.
Don't forget, people who had Teppanyaki are being offered reservations all over the world, not just Epcot and on other nights than their original ressie, if they're will to juggle the schedule around. I suspect whoever set up the extra "times/tables" at other places figured out how to spread the weight of the crowd around. I also suspect they're opening more tables earlier in the day and bringing staff in early. No restaurant would normally fill up & run a full staff at 4 or 5pm. I was offered meal times at 4, 430, 5 & 530. I'm betting for late August & July, that's what you'll see.

1) Epcot restaurants do not have walk-up blocks.
2) Some resorts do, but not parks eateries.
3) Example: Some resort eateries (like WCC) only reserve 80% of the tables.

Uggg...why do I feel like my typical 45 minute wait @ Le Cellier will now be a lot worse! :sad2:

I just called and asked this question as I had Teppanyaki ressies and have been trying for several weeks to switch to another WS restaurant and wasn't able to get any of the more desirable restaurants. I was basically told that "the other restaurants were gracious enough to allow us to have a few tables from their inventory to fill in the people who are reserved at Teppanyaki and that it's very limited".

Let me guess, your glass is half empty. :rolleyes1

I don't think that was meant to be taken literally as in physically adding more tables, but rather, offering additonal ADR's at the existing tables.
