One more gripe from last week. Dear wife wanted to take out food from Olivia's. We had kids there for breakfast but it was a disaster (4 year old, toddler, both boys). The next time we thought we would order takeout and bring it back to the room.
They kindly informed us that they have a new chef and they will no longer do takeout. I spoke to the mgr. and she said that they just started this. I was livid as I hate to find out about new policies as they happen rather than in writing. Anyway, the mgr. said she would make an exception for our trip. The next time, we ordered a lunch salad, it was the biggest production. None of the hostesses knew about this. They had to find the mgr. and by the time my wife got her salad and got back to the room, it was the wrong one! I know I may be knit picking but I am expect somewhat close to perfection. If the Disney cutbacks are affecting service, they need to inform the members. Also, I did find out that Olivia's is run by Disney, not by the Vacation Club, so there lies a big disconnect. The mgr. of Olivia's commented that eventually they are tied under the big umbrella.
Do we have any say as members re: restaurant policies on-site?

As DVC members, we have a a lot of say by "voting" with our wallets. Olivia's -- probably more than other restaurant at WDW -- needs to maintain loyal repeat business, given that Olivia's relies on the same DVC members who return to OKW year after year.

But we have no say otherwise.

What does having a new chef got to do with take-out ? Is his food too good for a brown bag ! We've eaten at Olivia's a couple times, basically thought is was average. We stayed at Port a few years ago and liked their premiere restraunt- I forget the name, but now it's closed. Dec '99 ate there, placed our order, observed another couple being seated across from us,placed they're order, same waitress, shortly afterwards, waitress returned with they're order.I told my wife "they're getting our order" cause the other lady looked a little baffled at her plate. We commented to the waitress that we think she made a mistake-sure enough she did-couldn't apologize enough. Then the manager came out, gave us our meals for free. We were very impressed with their customer service and had a great time. I hope OKW keeps up that tradition and doesn't take it's members for granted.

And people told me I was crazy because I turned down a $52 a point OKW resell to buy Boardwalk Villas for $65. a point.

We ordered takeout from Olivia's lunch menu at Goods to Go on April 6th. We did so a number of times during our recent visit with no problem at all...

Did anyone at Olivia's suggest placing your order at Goods to Go?

Just when I thought it might be safe to give Olivia's anothertry!

A few years ago after a horrendous Christmas Eve I spoke with the chef at Olivia's (he called in response to my letter.) He couldn't have been nicer and two things he stressed were how they would be willing to accomodate any desire, such as chicken soup for a sick person that could even be taken out, and how you could order lunch items at night. When I gave Olivia's another try the waitress looked like I had two heads when I asked for a light menu for dinner and then pointed to a few items at the bottom.

A recent VM talked about the take-out, now this is a no-go too. I don't get what's so difficult about having good, simple food available for when folks don't want to cook!

As a new purchaser into the DVC - OKW home resort, I have to say I'm getting concerned over the recent postings as to the questionable quality of Olivia's. Are people writing to Disney to complain? To all those OKW lovers out there - HELP! GIVE ME SOME CONFIDENCE that this restaurant really isn't as bad as it seems! I don't want to be sorry that I picked OKW as home resort - (our family views food as an important part of any vacation)

Actually we are very happy with OKW as far as the buildings and it is very peaceful The kids lov e the pool also. As far as Olivia's if they don't make improvements, we will hit another restaurant
at the Crossroads and Disney will lose the revenue. I don't think the chef at Olivia's should dictate the take-out policy. Perhaps they should hire someone who can actually handle the pressure of take-out orders.

We have given up on Olivia's several years ago. The quality of the food had gone down and the selection reflects the quality. It is a disappointment because it was very good when it first opened. We have complained on many occassions and never received any reply to the complaints. We now either go to other places in the parks or outside of WDW. I have talked to the Mgr. several times and he has told me, each time, that the menu and food quality is determined by the head chef. I have several recipies from earlier days that show the good quality food items. One in particular was the Key Lime White Chocolate Mousse, it was the best. Now I would not ask for any recipies. We do have a choice and we choose to go elsewhere.
