No Smoking on Private Verandas

We booked our third cruise for 2011 today and our first on the Dream. When I was speaking with the CM about smoking areas for BFF's DS they told us that effective 1/11 smoking is no longer allowed on the private verandas. Boy is this good news for us nonsmokers who like to sit on the veranda only to have smoke come from the next veranda.

I hope this is accurate info. I don't appreciate it when I can't enjoy my veranda because of a heavy smoker nearby. I understand their rights, but I really want to be able to breath that fresh clean ocean air. Also, it truly is a fire hazard for a ship.

I (a non smoker) fully appreciate this! I quit 8 years ago and while it doesn't tempt or bother me..I certainly do not go out of my way to be wafted in the face with it!

However.....my husband (smoker) will be mighty uncomfortable. We booked a verandah specifically so that he could smoke, as he is already used to going outside at home, restaruants and hotels. He simply will not smoke aroung children (including our own), and not having the verandah leaves only the designated open air decks where children and families are moving about.

He tries his best to be considerate and not inflict his vice on others....

I really hope this is true. There were so many times we couldn't enjoy our verandah, because of the smokers next to us.

that's interesting, we just returned from the PC and there was a lot of smoking going on from the verandas, we were above and beside them. Perhaps Disney hasn't got the message out clearly. I do feel bad for the smokers (DH and I are x's)
