Day Four, Part Two!
So after swimming upon return from the water park (haha! that sounds kind of silly....) it was time to get ready for our dinner.
I wanted to show off the new hoodie I got in the Contemporary gift shop - it was half off and will TOTALLY be coming with me on my October trip!
We also had some messages on our phone from my mom's cousin. He lives in the Orlando area and wanted to visit with us briefly while we were there. He took the bus in and we hung out in the lobby bar area for a bit and chatted and did some catching up.
But it seemed like no time before we had to get going so we could make our dinner ADR at Yak and Yeti in Animal Kingdom. We said good-bye and headed down to the lobby to get the bus to AK.
I was wearing my skirt that I got at Animal Kingdom last year. There's a little shop/stand not far from Yak and Yeti, actually, that sells shirts and pretty wrap skirts made of silk. Tonight was the night to wear mine!
We found a photopass CM when we got in... (I'm wearing my new bracelet that I got at TL earlier that day!)
Turns out we were a little early. We could've killed time by walking around, but good lord, that heat. No way.
The restaurant was able to seat us earlier - yay for air-conditioning! Sweet, sweet air-conditioning...
I started off my meal with some kind of girly grape concoction. Not really sure what it was - but it was like a grape snow cone - with booze. Fortunately the CM warned me to keep stirring it or it would start to melt into a solid ice ball!
It wasn't bad, but after that, I had to have my Yak Attack!
Brian and I both ordered the Mahi Mahi. It was really good - nice Asian flavors. (Brian teases me about my love of Asian food. I must have been Asian in a past life 'cause I could eat Asian food every day. I freakin' love it!)
For dessert, I ordered the cream cheese wontons. Wow - these are just SO GOOD!
(and I'm kind of hungry as I type this up - these food pics and memories are so not helpin'!)
Brian got the sorbet sampler...
After dinner, we headed out towards Expedition Everest. As you can see, I didn't last very long with my hair down. Blasted heat!
Brian also got some pictures to show how the little shrine thing near the photopass spot actually lines up with the hills of EE....
So even though our bellies were quite full, we were totally up for a ride on EE!!
We headed to our new fave place - the single rider line! And after an excellent ride through the mountain, we walked around to get some pics, realizing this was our FIRST ever evening in AK!

We couldn't quite believe it ourselves, but we had only ever done mornings at AK! So we had to get some "Evening" pictures at AK!
We even headed over to Camp Minnie Mickey, as we'd never been there. (Remember, we don't have kids nor had we done the shows much, so, well, we just never got down there.)
Guess what Brian found - a mother duck and her babies tucked in by some trees next to the stream...
So cute!
We started to head towards Discovery Island to get some pics there too. While we were walking around, we actually saw a boy pick up a wild duck. (Well, "wild"-ish, since it lives there begging for food at Disney.) The poor duck was scared out of its wits and was struggling to get free. The boy seemed to think it was funny and was holding it up for all to see. (And this boy was old enough to know better - he looked about 12 or 13.)
This animal lover went into *protect the animals* mode. I immediately looked at the boy in the eyes and told him to "put the duck down! Do you have training in animal handling? Then you need to put the poor duck down!" He was embarrassed that some crazy lady was scolding him in public and put the duck down so it could run away.
Where the heck were the parents of this trouble-maker? Why did a CM not reprimand him?! I get really protective of animals and can't stand to see someone treating any of them badly. Grrr.... I doubt he'll have learned any kind of lesson....
After that little fiasco, we took a few more pictures and headed out...
We were gonna head back - with plans to visit the new Top of the World Lounge viewing-deck on top of BLT for the fireworks! That's up next!
