What happens if you don't happen to make or show up for your ADR's? I notice now when they take your reservation they want a contact # not just the hotel your staying at.

Most they reservation just cancels, some (where they take a charge card at reservation), you are charged a fee for not showing.

In anycase, I firmly believe if you're not sure or know you're not going to make your ADR, please cancel it because it frees up room for others that want to dine at the restaurant, including those unfortunate souls who didn't make ADRs.

I second this thought!! :thumbsup2

If you know you are not going to make it cancel it the minute you know to open the spot up for another family.

ADRs are hard enough to get even 180 days out sometimes so when people make extra ones all they are doing is making it even harder on everyone else.

Just to clarify, I wasn't planning on missing a ADR, I was just inquiring really why they were asking for a contact phone number when taking the reservation, as I'm staying on site and I've never had them do that before.

I really just thought that they put all your reservations under one phone number just to keep track of them. I seriously doubt they'll be calling you if you miss your 7 pm time at Biergarten (just an example...).

I've had that happen quite often. I thought it was kind of funny before cell phones were popular because it was my home phone number and if I'm in Disney World, how could they get in touch with me?

It's not a big deal. If you happen to miss one because you had an attraction break down or the bus was late or whatever, they aren't going to hunt you down. If you had to put a credit card down, they will charge you a per person fee but that's about it.

And thank you for clarifying before this got into one of those bashing threads where people get all upset about people not calling to cancel their reservations.

They use the phone number for tracking purposes because:

1) Not everyone who makes a dining reservation is staying at a Disney hotel.

2) Not everyone who makes a dining reservation is staying at a hotel at all. Locals eat there too.

3) If you decide to change your resort reservation, then you don't have to change it on all your dining reservations also.

There is no penalty for skipping a reservation unless you have been asked to give a credit card number to hold the reservation. Most would say reservations should be cancelled out of common courtesy, but for an ordinary reservation it isn't a requirement.
